Does anyone know what to use for smoothing the surface of a soft plastic(It seems similar to high density polyethylene)? I'm trying to repair a bumper that mated with a rock(not the Z). I was able to smooth out the main wrinkles by heating with a blow dryer and bending it back, but there is some damage left that will have to be filled with something and sanded smooth. I realize that almost nothing sticks to plastic, especialy if it's polyethylene, but maybe there is a trick or two out there besides purchasing a new bumper. Thanks, Victor.

Was planning on painting my car today and was told that the humidity would fog up a paint job, but will it have any bad effect on primer? thanks.

My recently purchased '71 240z sports a pop-up sunroof that I know will drive some of you guys crazy. However, I've never had a sunroof before and kind of like the novelty of it....until it rains. Unfortunately, it leaks like crazy. Anybody know where I can find new weather striping for it? My web searches are coming up empty. I believe the sunroof was made by Levan. Anyway, save me from using duct tape!! Thanks for any help anyone can offer. - Alan -

I have a '71z that I am rejuvenating. I really don't care for the drip rails. My friend says that if I grind them off I would ruin the character of the car. I think it would be an improvement. I would like further input from the Z community. I'll probably never drive in the rain anyway. Has anyone done/seen this. Pics would be greatly appreciated Thanks Notsonewbie PS. I fully anticipate getting flamed by some purists. I don't mind. I would appreciate any input

In the door jamb you have the door striker plate. Was this piece originally plated with yellow zinc?

Hey All, Just wondering if anyone new a site (or book) that details the rebuild of the 240z body (and engine i guess)? I sold my 280z a few years ago (idiot, i know) and Ive got the itch for the Z again. I'm young and dumb so I'm trying to get an idea of the work involved (a lot I know, I've been reading around) and the design of the Unit-body (uni-body? whatever), so I know better what to look for. Taking a basic body working class this summer too, hopefully that helps a bit too. Thanks for the help. or does anyone have Ideas on powder coating/under coat?

Is there a seam weld just above the quarter glass on our Z cars? Vicky

Ok so my 260z has a sunroof but I really want that hardtop look and not the typical pop-up sunroof look on my car.. theres too much work involved in taking the roof skin off and putting a new one on so ive decided to install a steel sunroof system... which means that im going to have to make a large piece of metal or fibreglass and shape it to contour the roof curve, the only thing thats visible will be a thin rubber weather seal around the sunroof. The sunroof will most likely be electronic. So my question is.. what do you guys think of this idea? And has anyone done it before on a Z?

Ok I found a cheap siphon fed sandblaster and have access to a pretty decent size air compressor. But the more I read up on sandblasting from books in the library, they say it warps the metal, but a lot of people I know sandblast their cars to get rid of paint and rust. Not to mention play sand from Lowes is dirt cheap compared to blasting material found online like plastic beads, walnut shells, etc.
