I've been slowly getting my 260z to a condition where i can just hop in and start driving it around. One thing that has been bothering me since i got the car is the amount of noise that enters the cabin. While i understand that these are not modern cars I've been trying to do what i can to reduce road noise. So far I've done, Sound deadening on : Doors, Boot, firewall(interior), Transmission tunnel, floor pans, under seat (drivers side), inside quarter panels, inside spare tub. Weather stripping: doors + window felt. Interior: Extra padding under the mats. I feel like the majority of the sounds that come from the car are wind noises. (esp at freeway s…

So, today I did a swap to a stock-color tail light panel on my 1971 240z. I was able to pick up a great restored panel from our classifieds and now I have one of each color. Since my panel was installed with plastic rivets (just for this occasion) it was a 20 minute swap. When I had my car painted yellow, quite a long time ago, I asked the guys to paint the tail light panel the same color as the body. I knew it never looked right, but, it was something I wanted at the time. Now that I'm a bit older, I wanted to see what a stock color would look like. Here's the difference. What do you think?

Got a set of original Datsun competition/race mirrors for my '73 240Z comp resto. They didn't come with the mounting gaskets which no longer seem to be available. Searched around on the net for some but no luck, seems there were some on EBay a year ago. I think the mirrors were also used on the 280Z Black Pearl and Zap models, as well as being an option for the 240Z and 260Z. Not to worry, drew some up in Solidworks and then 3D printed them in PLA. They fit a treat and look original. Nice little result for a few hours work. Happy to make some more for anyone that needs them, just drop me a message.

I’m trying to repair this frame rail around the sway bar attachment point . Trying to get an idea of the shape of the original nut plate that is spotted in. looks like a box shaped nut plate with maybe 3 sides ? The metal was rough on the outside rail , someone had did a bad patch job . Looks like about 3 spot welds on the bottom of the rail . Maybe the box had a front side that was spotted to the frame rail /engine side ?

As a retirement gift to myself I decided to get my Z restored. It's a RHD 1978 260Z that I picked up when I was stationed in England. I've pulled the engine and dropped it off for rebuild, got the tranny rebuilt and stripped the interior, doors and glass. I've done some exploratory grinding on the paint after finding a bunch of bondo under the door. I thought I was upset at how much rust I found until I discovered that I had structural amounts of bondo. I'm technically and mechanically inclined but lack the experience with metalworking. I'm fine with paying someone to do the things I can't but I can't bring myself to pay someone to do things I can do. I'm at …

Hi! I've got this bumper on my -73 240z. It is in good shape, however as you can see it sticks out very far from the body (with rubber underneath). I would like to transform/convert it for a much tighter fitment (like early 240z). Is there any guide/know how on how to do this? I suppose cutting the metal spacer (as seen in clearly in photo 3), perhaps weld some new mounting points? Or perhaps the shape of this one simply will not ever get that tight fitment due to other specs? But it looks like one could get it back 6-7 cm/2-3 inches also on the sides? Mounting/underneath: Another picture: How I would like it to fit …

Hello to all, I've stripped and rough sanded FRP lightbuckets. I have a repair to make on one broken flange and I want to start to detail and prep for paint. Can anyone recommend materials for repair and surface filling please?? If there are trusted products would be great to know. West System epoxy with microfibres? Surfboard resin?? Don't want to ruin 'em. . . Thanks!!

My '71 Z came with an original jack, handle, and tool-kit bag. All are in good condition, but the only tools in the bag were a couple of un-matched slot screwdrivers. Can anyone tell me what tools should be in the bag? Any photos of what they look like? Thanks

Hi, it's time to paint my 72 and I haven't been able to find the correct Lime color paint or paint code. Not crazy about the color, but it is the original color and the car has the numbers matching engine. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

I've been reading another thread that focuses on the new floor and frame rail stampings being offered by a shop in Florida (name?). I noted that there seems to be uncertainty over the actual OE panel thicknesses used for the S30's panels and stampings. Given the shear number of experienced S30 restorationists who have been participating in the CZCC website over the years, I'm a little surprised that we don't already have an in-place consensus on the gauges of the factory floor and rail stampings (not to mention all of the rest of the S30 structural and body panels). One would have thought that this would have been discussed and agreed upon long ago? @Patcon @Con…
