After 5 years of work I wrecked my Z. It's not that bad but you hate to see all your hard work ruined like that. You can see it at my web page: http://www.frpinc.com/projectz/ProjectZ.htm At least it has yet to be painted, I would have been a little more upset if it had a fresh paint job.

Has anyone replaced the quarter window seals? My window was broken and replaced by an autoglass repairman a few years ago. He evidently didn't fit it completely into the body because the windows' front frame has eventually worked its way out to the point that I have a difficult time closing my drivers' door. So I'm looking at replacing the old and cracked rubber seals that seal the glass to the frame, hold the frame to the body, and installing the rubber piece that seals the front edge of the frame to the back edge of the door window frame. If anyone would like to share their experience with this situation I'd appreciate it very much. Thanks in advance! :classic:

Anyone know where I can find a Continental Spare Tire Kit for the back end? Due to the shortened height of the back end, I think the Half kit would be best. Thoughts? Enrique

hey guys another dumb q for ya. my 71 when i got it had a rear spoiler and louvers plus somekinda side trim and a front are dam are these standard? i havent seen another z with all this stuff!hope fulfully ill have some pics before to long. its clear i dont know much about z cars but im learning. thanks.

Well I've found a Z and the wife says okay if it's in decent enough shape. But there is always a catch. It's a 73. I've been looking for a 70-72 because I know they are everything I want and i know that all cars in 73 in the USA had to meet certain crappy guidelines. Now the carbs don't bother me because the end result won't include stock carbs anyway, but the bumpers do. How much do the bumpers differ between 72 and 73? Can pre-73 bumpers be used on a 73? What other differences were there in 73? I love the look of the slim bumber with the two bumper "guards" was it the same in 73 with just different mounts? How much is the price of tea in china? Thanks for your time …

Using tubing to drain cowl water

Would it be possible to use a tube to drain the water from the cowl area? As far as I know, the water just drains behind the fender, and this worries me, because It should cause major rusting. Instead the tube would go down past the bottom of the floorpan. thx.

I've found someone to do a proper paint job and his estimate of $4-$4.5K seems in line with what others have said a good job will cost. I still need to check out some references but so far it looks good. I actually got his name from the local store that sells auto paints so I figure they probably know a lot of people in the business. I do however have one question for you guys. He says he would want 1/2 the money up front to cover supplies and the initial labor. Is this a reasonable request? He does all of the work at home so he doesn't have the bankroll of a large paint and body shop.

I was staring at a hole in my rusted front frame rail and, it got me thinking. I saw a pict of the WORKS ZG shell, and guess what? They drilled the whole body to a point that it could be made out of Swiss cheese you wouldn't notice! So do we" really have to patch all the rust damage? can't we just try to control the steel cancer? This hole in the very front frame rail could be useful to spray inside from time to time, maybe a clean rubber type of body plug could be just as good? It's early here and I am not really awake, but... tell me what you think. It's not an excuse to do nothing, my welder is ready and I was planing to put in clean metal, but still...
