Can't believe it, but some arse-wipe ran his key right down the passenger side of my 240z!!! Then he went to the trouble of wandering around the other side, and scratching the front side panel too! It happened a week ago, but I'm still really p!ssed off. :devious: Fortunately, my insurance company specialises in classic cars, and allows me to choose my own repairer. Not sure how much will buff/polish out, because I've already had a crack at it with my cut-n-polish. I'm thinking it'll need to be repainted (at least on those particular panels - all FOUR of them!). Does anyone have any tips or tricks? Words of condolence will also be appreciated. Thanks! Z Car Nut (aka M…

78 280Z Is there supposed to be a factory bracket or mount for the front license plate? In Ohio, you're "required" to have both license plates mounted, but apparently, some people with expensive cars, think they're above thisrequirement. So far, I used GOOP to glue a plastic bracket to the bumper off to the LH side, with some extra long plastic zip-ties for safety. The plate screws to the plastic bracket of course. thx.

Gday from Australia. I have taken a fancy to a 280ZX paint scheme saw on the internet. It appears to be a silver and black clone of the anniversarry model gold and black/red and black 1980 paint jobs. However this one is awesome as it features the Nissan Silver two tone on black. I have two paint colours from the paint pro website one is Platinum metallic clearcoat the other magic mist plus thunder black. If anyone knows the true silver colour used in 1981/82 and how to get the depth and lustre I saw on thsi 82 then please email me. if I could upload a picture I would then you would know what I am raving about, words do no justice, this car was the best of the best in…

Hi guys, I just pounded out a reverse ding in my hood, due to me leaving a wratchet under the hood and then shutting it...:stupid: Anyway I sanded it down, and then took a little propane torch to it and banged it out as good as I could get, which seems about 90% better. But now I have some exposed metal, do you guys have any suggestions how to protecht it? And I also banged out some dents in my rear bumper...

Gonna need to do a little touch up work on my '78 Black Pearl 280 (well, mine soon, I hope:stupid: ). Problem is this, previous owner jacked up the front left of the car using the fender. The bottom of it is bent a little, but a good amount of the paint has flaked off. Not much rust, so I plan on sanding it down, straightening it out, priming it, and putting a few coats of paint over the affected area. I would like to keep the repair small since the original SAP stripes are present. This eliminates a repaint on the fender. Does anyone know if their is a paint company that makes a close match to the Black Pearl in spray form? If not, I can get a pint mixed up at a bo…

Hey guys, i 've got a 77 280z and i hate the crash bumpers it has. I've done a search but haven't really found an answer yet. here is my question, what can i do to get rid of them? i've heard you can put on 240 bumpers, or you can just take them off and get a kit from msa. what would the best solution be? i would like that air dam, lip, kit (or whatever you want to call it) look. any pics would also be great! p.s what about the back bumper? thanks all steve ottawa canada

I have a 1971 240z that my dad bought coming back from Vietnam. The car ran until 1989 or so and has sat in a garage (or two) since then. Extensive body work was performed back in 1984 to address body rust and a new paint job was applied. Certain areas were not addressed (like the the floor boards) and the car needs some body work. However, when looking over the car (after bringing it down to my garage) there appears to be some serious looking rust in the front-right wheel well. Can anyone here tell me how serious the problem is and the $$ figure facing me if I attempt to get this fixed? I can provide more photos if necessary.

Hey guys, I was just feeling nastalgic and thinking about the final color of my z. It was originally Brown Metallic 114, which was probably one of the uglier colors, but then I realized I never really saw one. My car was repainted white a decade or so ago. Do you guys know any pics of a Brown Metallic 114 aka cocoa brown z, I think they were only availiable a few months in 72/73. I was digging through gallery, but figured maybe you guys knew of one already... Thanks

Hello, I'm new on this board and just have a few questions. I just got my 72' 240Z, 16, and currently stripping out the interior. Now the body of the Z is black but the interior paint shows its original color of *ick*lime green. When wire brushing the trunk area trying to get rid of the original color, I noticed in the spare tire well a large amout of rust and after wire brushing what do ya know? I could see the garage floor:stupid: Now just cruising around I heard someone mention something about POR-15. After going to their site I have a few questions. 1.What do I use to repair the "cancer spots" where rust has formed but not eaten all the way through? 2.How do I repai…

Hey guys! Just wondering...on my '72 240z, the metal behind the useless bumper has been slightly crunched. Is this a replaceable part? I'd much prefer to tear the thing off and replace it with a new, non surface-rusted piece, just to be safe. I can get a pic if needed, but literally it's the piece behind the left corner of the flimsy metal bumper. Thanks.

I need to get new weather stripping for my Z and I want to know the best options. There is that guy on ebay you sells the kit for $185, but that seems pretty cheap for good weather stripping. Anyone used that before or have a better way of going at it?
