Well, a few weeks ago I removed 2/3 of the left Rocker for replacement, and I was vacillating about cutting out the lower rear quarter to get to the back end of the rocker. The quarter panel had been replaced 12 years ago and still seemed to be in good shape. I think it was Escanlon that suggested I might consider what things looked like under the quarter, and tonight I did. Poke, prod, cut, chisel, and in the end, it looks like this. Yikes! At least I'll be able to replace the entire rocker intact, and then the lower quarter dogleg. Thorough cleaning out, POR-15ing, and maybe I'll never have to do it again. Hopefully. Ugly stuff, that rust...

Well 16 years ago when I painted the car I put these black plastic things in a safe place, so safe that I can't find them.... Where can I get new ones or does anybody have a parts car that wants to sell them??? They are the plastic bushings that fits under the windshield in the body where the (the correct name escapes me) grill that the windshied wipers poke through fit into in the back, screws hold it in the front.... HELP

Well as I continue to work on my 240 that has been resting for the last 15 years I have found some rust in some places of the floor pan. Nothing bad just something that needs taken care of before it gets worse. POR-15 time. My delema is that 20 years ago I heavily undercoated the car, now I have to take some of it off. Anybody got an easy way to strip areas of undercoat? About the only thing that I've found that works is a twisted wire wheel in a grinder, it gets the job done but is a real mess and is slow. I've thought about a propane torch with a flame spredder and a scraper but the idea of flame, tar, and my car all in the same place doesn't give me any warm fuzzys. An…

I just bought a pair of door seals for my 73 from MSA and I noticed that they have no metal clip as has been described in previous posts. All there is is the rubber seal, and I don't see a good way to attach it to the body. Do you have to scrape the old rubber off the old clip and and use it to attach the new seal, or is there a clip that I'm supposed to order to use with the new seal. I don't really see a good way to attach the new seal without a clip so that the headliner vinyl and rubber are both held tightly to the body. Any advice here would be appreciated. Thanks, Victor.

Anybody want to give the steps involved? I've got 1/2 in of Bondo at least just on the right side. I haven't touched the left. There's no way these can be saved. I just want the steps to remove the panel, no replace it. After I take it off I have to decide whether to keep the car or not. The front frame rails are rusted and need replacing already. If the back looks like the front I think I'll be searching for a Mustang or Porsche for a resto and giving up on the Z.

Hi friends and neighbours, Is there anyone willing to loan me their original 240Z belly/splash pan so that I can make a fiberglass mold of it and make at least one frp piece for myself? Also in the MSA catalog it lists two different part numbers for the 69-73 and 74-8 splash pans. Does anyone know just how different the later 74-8 one is, I ask because at least that one is still available... Thanks, -e

A long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away) I purchased a set of window & door seals from Performance Specalties. Since then I understand that they've greatly improved the kit. My main concern is the door seals. I've heard that the later-model door-seals have the metal clip part molded together with the rubber seal. The kit I have requires me to glue in the rubber piece and then snap the metal trim on top of it. WHAT A PAIN! Has anyone purchased a kit from Performance Specialties lately for an early-model Z ? Ie: 70 to 72 240z? And, does this kit come with the metal clip molded to the rubber seal? I understand that many shops are reselling the kits from PS, so, …

Occasionally I come across a pic of one of the old school rear fin spoilers. I think they have a real cool 70's look to them. Were they made by datsun? What do you guys think of this style of spoiler?

I wish I had done this long ago. I had always thought of pulling my front fenders. I just never did this due to the fear of how hard it may be. I was wrong. Each fender took me about 15 minn. each. Wow am I A happy camper.:classic: . I do have A 90% rust free Z. I would say to anyone going deep into there Z PULL THEM. I found alot of sand and road grime in there that would have started some real rut problems. Most of this was stuck up near the frame work in the lower part of the front 1\4s just in front of the door. I did find the little surface rust dots here and there but nothing that I would worry about. I do plan on scuffing off the rust dots (size if pin …
