I'm getting ready to paint my 240 next month and I had a few questions. I painted a couple of cars many years ago and the paint went on and stayed on fine but there was a lot of orange peel( think it was the equipment that I used). I plan on either buying a compressor from sears-6hp 33gal tank, or renting a 11 hp gas unit. Is the sears compressor large enough number one and will it handle a hvlp gun? Also does a hvlp gun make that much of a difference over a conventional gun? As far as paint I've been told to use the base coat / clear coat type because that is the easiest one to get a good finish with. Is the urethane paint better to use than the acrylic? Lastly is metal…

Hello, Just wondering if anyone here has had experience with carbomastic 15 as a rust prevention substance. The guy who is removing the paint from my parts swears by it "it shits all over por products, designed for immersed oil rigs, wont find better" So has anyone used it, it can be applied up to 5mm thick (for underbody etc) is a metal flake modified epoxy substance, it sounds great, so any feedback? When I bought my Z last Feb. the front bumper was inside the car. The previous owner hit something, she was not going very fast the only damage that occoured was a few cracks on the right headlight bucket and the valance below it was dented a bit. Well and the bumper is a bit tweaked. The right mounting bracket was bent pretty bad but I have since tweaked it back to looking like the other one. I assumed they were both supposed to look the same. The bumper is still bent and this is were my problem arrises and am hoping someone may be able to help. is there anything wrong with cutting out some bad metal, and por 15 and riveting some plates on top? there's some okay metal on the floors, but its not all that great and there are some parts where there's a huge section of holes. any input on if this is a good or bad idea in the long run? I'd like to put a cage in the car later

OK, I need some expert opinions. I bought my 73 z two years ago, and havent done much as far as major overhauls of any sort. I finally am to a point to where I might be able to put some money into my baby. I paid 1200 for the car, which I think was a steal since it has been a dialy driver ever since. My question is this, I need to know whether the rust, and or body condition is good, bad or ugly. Should I use this one for my project, or try to find another one and use this one for parts? Well, I knew I had rust problems, but I found some nasty stuff today. I finally pulled the front fenders. I knew that the PO had replaced the fender with factory parts, and they still looked good. No rust apparent at the rocker on them. There were a few rust bubbles on the rocker itself, but not too bad. So, here's a pic of what I found under the front fenders. The rocker ends are pretty much gone. Don't know how you can see this area without pulling the fender, but if you see ANY rust on the rockers, beware of this area. First, the passenger side:

How much have many of you paid for the engine and exterior sandblasted and painted? I will be doing this sometime in the next 6 months and I need to know how many pretty pennys I need to save in order to do it:D Any info would be great! -Jeff
