can a 510 fit on the rotisserie for a z easily if I have the engine, glass and doors, suspension removed? how would you go about attacking the undercoat to remove it? the floors will need to be cut out completely to weld new materials in, its pretty bad... so would you clean the areas surrounding the floors, remove then cut? or do something like oven cleaner then spray the whole underbody? then after that, what would you suggest I do to keep the pans from rusting out again?

Has anybody run into this before? It looks like some major fab work. There is a hole on the left and right sides of the inner fender where the cross member is mounted. I saw in the how to restore book the guy did pretty much the same thing. If you've done this before, what was involved in fixing it? I can't go out and buy another car with a better body because I don't have the space. (3 going on 4 cars) I'm not concerned with the cost involved.

I am new to the old car thing, but I have wanted to fix up an old fast car since high school. I am not really interested in restoring the car to original, but more making it my own creation - with taste. I am very machanically inclined, but have limited experience fixing cars. My father-in-law is a very experienced machanic. That said - would it be wise for me to try to strip my Z of everything and make it "like new"? Is there any way that I could keep driving it while this is going on:stupid:? If no, how long am I looking at not being able to drive it? Any idea of how much money I am going to spend while doing everything myself? Thanks for all the input! Matt

Here's one for all the sparypainters out there. I'm stripping my 240 back to bare metal. Should I prime it with etch primer (you know the brown/red primer, that seems to be what it was painted with origionally), or should I use the normal grey primer?

I need to take off the decorative side moulding strips to paint the 240. How are they attached and are there preferred removal and reattachment techniques? Same question for the emblems. Thanks, Victor.

I took my rear lens appart, and found that it was far from hi-end tech in there! No wonder it does not shine like the Christmas tree it should be. Only a dull semi-gloss reflecting surface and a lot of air… I will see if I can improve the beast, and I will let you know…
