Not that this may work in every application or vehicle, however I have found a less frustrating way of removing the undercoating.. I use a 4 1/2" scraper for the large flat areas and a hammer. I basically use it like a sculptor would use a chisel to carve stone. ONce you get underneath the undercoating it peels up in nice sections and moves along nicely. For the smaller sections, compound curves and the like, I use a 1 1/2 " scraper. Once you get a little finesse down you can remove the undercoating without even scratching the primer underneath! I was able to do the passenger side innner fender well on the 260 last night in about 2 and a half hours. You can then remove …

Help, please After nearly 5 years without a zed, I'm finally going to get another one on the road which will be painted before Christmas. What I'd like to know from all of you been there, done thats is what body 'modifications' can be done to avoid the usual rust traps? ie cutting out the lip on the inside of the fuel filler flap and there must be others. I know some purists will squeak in horrer:finger: however everyone to their taste and I'd really appreciate some ideas before the paint is done. Thanks in advance

I'm interested in finding out what were the standard rear ('side' in American?) vision mirrors for the various years of the 240Z. I have seen Australian 240Zs with metal mirrors on both the front quarter panels ('fenders' in American?) on some 70' and 71' 240Zs. I have also seen the same metal mirrors on the driver's side door and even on both doors on some 71's. I noticed that most 72's come with plastic mirrors on the doors that are painted the body colour, whilst 73's seem to have similar pastic mirrors (I'm not sure if they are the same shape, they don't look to be) in black. I have no idea what the story was in the U.S. but I'd be interested in and appreciative of …

I love the look of this car, and having decided to keep my 240z I have decided to try to transform it into a Japanesque racer. (hope no-one minds me posting this pic) Does anyone have any more pics of this style car, I have seen the le mans cars. Having to keep the cost as low as possible though, I can't keep it as authentic as I would like, I would just like to capture the style of the cars. To this end I have sourced some headlight covers (unfortunately without chrome) from the US and found bolt-on flares are available from MJP in the UK. Has anyone seen these, are they any good? I'm now looking for a suitable airdam/spoiler and cannot decide between the commonly…

How do I _SAFELY_ remove the windshield? I need it out to access some of my roll cage, and the FSM is not very detailed as to how to do this. I will also need to reinstall it -- what do I need to get that done? Thanks! phi22b@ck

So while spray paining my carport, I somehow got some over spray and got some paint mist to fly over my car. Yeah I'm pissed but I suppose it could have been worse. So now I have little paint spots misted all over the car. Each is about the size of a pin drip (About the size of the period on my keyobard here) and they are spread out maybe two or three inches from each other. I want an easy method to remove them. The paint on the car is decent but I had not waxed in a while. Any thoughts?

Does anyone know of a source to have Z bumpers rechromed? Mine are in pretty good shape but I want to get them filled and rechromed to do away with the rubber bumper guards. I am on the east coast and would prefer not to ship them across country.

The front end of my hood next to the headlight bucket where the hinge is, is out of allignment. The hood sits about 1/2 of an inch higher than the headlight bucket. I've tried to move the hinge but I can't get them even. What am I missing?

I've got two noticeable rust holes under the pass seat - both about 2-3" long - and the only thing keeping the elements out is the tar paper on the inside, under the carpet. I don't SEE anything as bad under the driver's seat but that doesn't mean it isn't there.... so i was thinking of putting new floors in, should i do frame rails at the same time? i know MSA has floors, but i am not so hot on their CS and wouldn't mind taking my business elsewhere... does anyone recommend a good source for floorboards that remain close to the original factory ones? now as far as actually putting them in, i've got a friend who does great welding (he's done all 3 iterations of my …
