My new 72 is badly oxidized and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on which compound would work best in trying to shine it up. It'll be a while before I can get it painted, but It like to clean her up for the time being. Dwight Zless no more!

I recently replaced the door seals and "welting" on my 240. However, now you have to "slam" the door in order for it to close flush with the body. Has anyone else had this problem?

Took some photo's of my parts car as I've been pulling it down, and I'm really surprised that the it held together for as long as it did. Both sill panels were made up of about an inch of bog (or bondo or fiberglass, whatever) and had all these little tell tale pockmarkes. I knew this when I bought it but I didn't realise the extent. Even the fram rails, the most structural part of the car, were bogged up! The car had no welding anywhere that I've found, just bog. Even the C pillar had bog at the top to 'hold' the roof on:stupid: I've attached a couple of photo's for reference to show what a bog job gone wrong looks like! First is the C pillar bog, when I cut the…

I've always had a question about that. As for most of us, we only have time to work on the Z on weekends. That means, we'd need to protect the bare metal from rusting after we strip off the paint, tar, whatever for months or years before completing the restoration. I know Metal Ready from POR-15 etches the metal and coats it with a layer of zinc phosphate. But how long does it last to offer good enough protection against rust? Having the shell primered for a long time isn't that great of an idea either since the primer is porous and moisture can get in to cause rust as well. Is there any other good way to keep it at bare metal while one completes what is necessary to go i…

Has anyone used this friction system to repair dents? It seems like a plausible idea and it's been around for 13yrs. I wonder how much they charge for the set... Sunchaser Tools

I really wish someone made a weld in replacement battery box already. I am so tired of having to repair underneath the battery tray on every Z car i have owned by fabricating something out of sheet metal. It would be nice to just be able to buy a replacement. Also, a replacement set of frame rail cradles (directly in front of the toe boards) would be wonderful too!!

I have managed to get my hands on some of the paint colour sheets for datsun production. I chased theses sheets down when trying to source the colour of my cars factory paint scheme. I got lucky, after talking to Dazza about the ones he got from EBAY, I thought I would ask at the repair shop doing the work on my car. the owner came back with two really dusty lever files, within two minutes I had my cars colour mached (colour chip to screen support inner lip) colour red 110. I convinced him to let me scan the sheets that could be done. dulux/duco/dulon import sheets 1971(2 sheets),1972,1974(2sheets),1975, 1976/77,1978,1979, 1980, 1980/81, 1981/82. Australian local bu…
