A question for the CCZCC folks: I’m in the process of purchasing a ’72 240Z and would like some recommendations for a good body and paint shop in the SB or SLO county area. I found a car with no rust, low miles, but a lot of door dings. Thanks!

Is this the miracle cure it's made out to be or not? Is it flexible? If applied to a panel that flexes, will it chip off? Is there any reason why I shouldn't just dip the whole bare frame and body in the stuff and then primer and paint on top of it? Chris

I brought a 240 a while ago which has had a sunroof fitted. I was going to keep the sun roof but it leaks to much and pisses me off. I have a spare roof and I was thinking of changing it. Has anyone out there done a roof change before and if so could you give me any advice on what to watch out for. thanks

I am really stuck with this one..I have a 74 260z w/ a 78 280 engine and a 78 5 speed transmission..Under the dashboard(driver's side next to the hood release and the passenger's side under glove box) I have two identical pull levers(one on each side. What the heck could they be for? I have not seen anything like it in any other car (albeit I have only had one other car this old)..Does anyone have any ideas? I thought that maybe it would be beause of a bypassed manual choke, but the center console mounted choke seems to work fine:cry: Help me

I am undecided if I am going to recover and re-foam the stock seats in my 71 240 or if I should go with the Mitata or other seats. So I would like to know from the other +40s out there if their butt, back, et al are ok with stock seats on long trips? Thanks

I suppose this should be in a different forum, but it applies to the body of the car. I'm building my car from the unibody up as a weekened racer and so I've been addressing certain issues as they come at me. Lately the issue of high speed aerodynamics has come to my attention. The smooth sweeping shape of the roofline into the hatch of the Z is very aerodynamic and creates a low pressure zone because the air flows faster over it. (Bernoulli) On the other hand, underneath the car the air is very turbulent and creates a high pressure zone. All this adds up to lift at the rear, and I've heard at 70mph anywhere from 120-180lbs of the rear tires! This concerns me because I l…

Just doing a bit of forward planning. I'm still trying to make up my mind how to approach the preparation of a 260 shell I am getting to transplant the parts from the 2+2 I wrote off a week or so ago. Does anyone have any thoughts on the following strategy: Strip all parts, put the shell on a rotisserie and remove the paint underneath using paint stripper. Paint underside with POR15 including inner fenders. At the same time have the running gear baked enameled and refit with new poly bushings etc. Once a rolling chassis again ship it of to a body shop to have the top side stripped and prepped for painting. The alternative as I see it is to have the whole body dip stri…

That rubber/plasticy/gooey insulation on my z is all cracked and peeling, so I want to take it out. I'm not putting my interior back in (sleeper baby!) and I am painting the interior body color, so that crap would be distracting. Has anybody else done this? I remember someone mentioning they used dry ice, but does that work? Thanks guys. -David

Has anyone used the "floor restoration kit" from the MSA catalog. The one that costs $120 and contains the epoxy, POR-15 and other items? Just looking for some opinions.

i was looking at this 240z and i noticed the dash lights were extremely dim. it was day time but even when i parked in an undercover area and put my hand over top of the gauges i could barely see the light shining through. i even tried adjusting the brightness with the dimmer switch under the dash and it didn't do much. would this be a hard thing to fix?or would i just have to change the bulbs?

i've heard phosphoric acid can get rid of surface rust. where could i get some, what's the average price, and how easy is it to use? i have a tiny bit of surface rust in my spare tire well, under my battery tray, on my roof and a bubble above the gas cap.
