Getting ready to install new door cards and mirrors on my 77 280z. Looks like I have to remove the door glass to fit the mirrors. I would like to just remove the glass but the FSM isn't overly clear as how to go about this. From what I can see there are four screws that hold the window to the mechanism. I'm hoping that I can remove the screws and lift the window out of the tracks, am I correct. If not, any assistance on how to remove just the window would be appreciated.

I've been reading about fuel tanks. Some of the links have been on here since Al Gore invented the net. Is POR still the thing to use? Is there a better product? Or a similar product that is the latest. Since I know nothing about 240z, and I've heard about fuel fumes in the cabin, how can I eliminate the possibility of fumes ?

I was lucky enough to get an original mirror for mine that's been mia since I bought the car. Anybody have any experience rolling that chrome/stainless? lip that goes over the beveled edge of the mirror to keep it in place? Thanks for any replies.

I saw somthing on the web that showed the restoration of a plastic lens. I think the youtube was done by chris fix. They did something I had not seen before - clear coating plastic – so I thought I would give it a try. Side marker lens' are fairly inexpensive and available so if I screwed it up or if it just flat out did not work it would not be a total disaster. My rear side markers were scratched and they were moderately oxidized. Unfortunately, I was so excited to try something new that I did not take a “before” picture. I did think of a picture after I had sanded the reflectors. Below is the image after wet sanding with #600, #1000, #1500, and #2000 grit. If y…

I was going through the locks today and realized that the ignition key locks the hatch but doesn't fit the two door locks, is there a way change or replace the tumblers so as to have one key for everything? Thanks

I'm looking for some advice (like I often am) related to painting the underneath, inner wheel wells, chassis parts of my 240z. I don't want to strip the entire car it bare and repaint everything so I'm looking to paint the underneath relatively assembled. The entire underbody of the car is covered with undercoating excluding the upper and lower frame rails which I just repaired and the floors which I just replaced. I plan to pull the chassis parts off and remove all undercoating and treat/repair any rust I find. I'm just a little stumped how to proceed. If I sandblast everything I suppose I can get a paint gun and go to town but then I risk getting the body covered i…

Got a slight dilema. The tow hook is missing off the car. I guess it broke off sometime long ago. I am thinking about finding another 240z and cutting the tow hook off of it and welding back in place. I am little worried though. Once I get one welded back on will it have the same amount of strength to support towing(hopefully I will never need it towed). I need to get one on so the bottom part of my grille stays on. Anybody ever have the same problem?
