Greeting fellow Zed heads. Can anyone tell me how S30 frames were attached to the unibody in the factory? Were they integrated inside of the unibody pieces, or simply welded on after the fact? I've looked at a ton of pictures and search the forums, and I can't find any info. Does anyone know?

Good morning. I'm in a mood of distracted boredom, and thought I'd start a rousing games of "why'd they do that?", 'they' being the factory. I have noticed on more than a half dozen odd Z's that I would say are relatively unmolested, that the six bolts that hold the wiper arm pivots to the cowl are quite surprising. Five are identical, one, the same one on every car, isn't. Here we see on the left side, that the inner, rear fastener is a round headed machine screw, bereft of even a lock washer, while all the other five are nice hex SEMS bolts with the expected lock washer. All are of course M5x0.8 thread. Right side, all is happy with three matchy m…

I'm trying to align the rear hatch after paint but it seems to be sitting too far in the aft direction. I'm using the tailgate hinge seal cover from Motorsport auto ( http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic02o03b03/34-2236) and with that installed it is impossibe to get it to sit correct. Anyone else had this issue? Tried to remove the cover and then it sits better, of course....

Howdy, I'm located in the Central Coast of California and am looking for a good paint and body shop to work on my 260. The coast doesn't have very many options, and those that do full jobs, have long wait lists and quotes of over $15k. My attention has shifted to the valley to save money. Can anyone recommend of a quality shop in the central valley that does complete car paint and body? Much appreciated

I'm wondering what is the best way to remove the seat brackets on my 77 280z? I am guessing to drill out the spot welds but I want to check with the experts first.

I have a 240z rear deck badge and can't decide if it's metal or plastic. It has posts on the back and a strong magnet will stick to it. Common sense says metal and I don't think the plastic ones had posts but I think I read here somewhere that Datsun used a metal/plastic combination to save money? Any help appreciated! I don't want to hold a lighter to it to check!

I have a Fiberglass (recently just sold the urethane one before installing it) Type 1 airdam for my 280z. Of course, it did not come with any hardware. Just looking at it, it seems like I'll need 6 bolts, 6 nuts, and 12 washers. What size bolts did you guys use for hardware? Anyone remember? And I'm assuming I should use stainless?

Is it possible to remove the lock and handle from the 260z's doors without removing the window & regulator? The FSM (pg BF-18) doesn't mention anything about removing the window but getting to the two bolts holding the handle and the clip attached to the lock cylinder seem to be inaccessible with the window in place. Note, I'm getting ready to wrap the car and need to pull this off to get a clean wrap. Jeff

Progress continues SLOWLY on the resurrection project on the 78 280Z. Refurbishing the individual parts as we go along and want to do a nice job on the original fan shroud. I have new clips and hardware to put the 2 pieces together and would like to paint the shroud.. Any suggestions? I have used the Krylon plastic fusion paint on other home projects over the years and have been pleased with the results or would a specialty can of automotive bumper and trim paint work better? Satin or matte finish is an option on the TRANSTAR brand I am thinking about. Thanks for all the help, John-Lugoff, SC

I needed door hinge shims and could not find any. I had a vendor laser cut some for me, fifty to be exact. I had an original for them to use to set up the cut. Does anyone else need any? I still plan to have them zinc plated before install.
