Okay, so after removing the broken bolt and re-tapping the threads, I'm still having big issues with the striker plate in my 260Z. The door closed fine a few times, but then it wouldn't latch completely. I tried adjusting the striker plate, and I noticed that the bolt would not tighten. I pulled the bolt out and noticed the threads were boogered up. A replacement bolt wasn't getting tight, either. At this point, I think that re-tapping the threads and using a new bolt probably won't hold well, and I would like to entertain suggestions. Should I drill out the M6 to 1/4" and tap at 20 TPI for that size? I am afraid that I might have clearance issues wit…

This promo video from a collision-repair equipment manufacturer just happens to feature a 280ZX for the initial demo sequence. The ZX has structural damage to the left-front and panel damage to the left rear. The video offers an interesting perspective on how our cars' structures respond to this kind of straightening operation. Everything you see here was probably done on a hurry-up basis and strictly by eye, so as to focus on demonstrating how the equipment works rather than the niceties of procedural details. Or, at least, I hope that's the case!

I'm a very long way from putting color on my 280z but I came across the attached picture and thought it looks great. Had a look through 'Super Street' and followed the google image trail but couldn't find any information. Can anybody here shed any light on the color?

Here is a perfect example of early and later JDM headlight covers. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-260z-280z-Headlight-covers-New-OEM-Nissan-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem45f6d8ae5eQQitemZ300494138974QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories The right one in the picture is for the driver's side and it is the early one with more round shape lense with different hole pattern. Left one is for the passenger side and it is the later design. If you had the same side but different version of the light covers, the lenses are not interchangable. Reproduction ones from Japan were made based on the early ones.....I wish someone made a late model lenses for spares..…

An individual call me this morning base on a ad I ran a few years ago offering a rust free roof for a 240. He lives in Michigan and is restoring a 72. He is looking for a rust free roof. Any one out there parting out a Z and would not mind shipping a roof?

What are you guys paying for paint jobs? I have had a couple quotes from professional painters wanting todo it at their house on the side for around 5k so I thought I would collect a quote from a legit shop. He gave me a quote for 25k with a warranty the others there is no warranty. My car is pretty straight overall will some bodywork needed. There is no way I can convince myself or my wife to spend that much. I would have a 35-40k sitting in the garage that is worth 15-30k the numbers don’t add up. Does anyone know of a good source to buy inner door parts. Window assembly parts ect. I am replacing worn or broken bushing. Curious what typically wears out to make the window not roll up smoothly. Seems to be somewhat loose in tracks. These are some of the parts needed to bolt on the window assembly Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

yes, this is tiptoeing out into hybridz territory, but i just thought i'd ask... i've been toying w/the idea for some time now, since my z is a DD and i live in the pacNW where the hatch glass is obscured due to rain more often than i'd like. nothing worse than trying to back out of a parking spot completely blind. at first i started looking around at other cars to see what might be transferrable and then noticed that the zx actually has one, although it is on a different hatch design. i've thought about drilling the glass and using one that goes through a hole in the glass to mount it in the bottom/middle giving a 180 sweep, vs the 90 sweep on the zx where it's moun…

Since I found just really expensive Urethane front lips (over 500$) I thought of trying my own. Yesterday I made the first part of the frame I’m going to use for a Prototype mold. Sorry for the bad quality. My idea is to use this to create the molding sample and then use just a top metal inlay to make it rigid when I’m going to pour the Urethane in the mold. The Urethane I’m going to use will be a Shore A75. Does someone have experience and inputs on what I have to look at ? What Problems could I have? Thanks in advance Marcel

We are doing a project with z and my biggest concern is that in Estonia we have these kind of cars only four. So that means that i cant get the full advice like I would need. We have done body work and welded. We should be ready in the middle of march. Every car has a manual what is fully made for the specific car. Like what kind of layers are used. The same is for example with porche. So I would like some advice what would those four layers be? Would someone give the right information about it.
