Hi all! I've been away from the page for awhile, and am amazed and impressed with the website changes! Great work Classic Z! Just a quick note... I stumbled upon these on eBay, and am wondering if they are original fender mirrors for a Z? If so, they are a great price... from what I understand, original mirrors are crazy expensive and very hard to find! So to all my z friends out there, can u tell me, are these the real deal? If so, lmk, and I can provide the link Hope this helps someone! K the lil z lady Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

As mentioned in another thread I've been restoring a 71 for the past few months. One issue that has raised its ugly head is how to project a fresh paint job while assembling the rest of the parts on to the body, especially in a small shop where proximity between the car and whatever you're dragging past it is a constant concern. I was watching one of the various car restoration shows on the speed channel, you know the ones, the ones where they restore a rusty incomplete classic to a new car in 5 days for twelve dollars. Yeah, fictional TV. Anyway, I noticed at one point they had a protective film/cover all over one car protecting fenders doors, roof, everything.…

Got this car cover for the 240 at Costco for $28 plus tax. Really happy with the fit and material. Nice for keeping the dust off the car while stored in the garage. Just thought I would pass this along. Works good on the roadster as well.

Does anyone know what front lip this is? Looks similar to the BRE style non-vented, but is rounded off in the corners. http://petrolicious.com/this-nissan-fairlady-240z-l-is-a-rare-japanese-survivor

Here they are! Y'all better get these. Cyber Monday $306 each plus shipping which isn't bad at all, $63 for both from Connecticut to Alabama. I got them so close I don't think a playing card could slip between the bumper and body. Both sides pulled in perfect too. Rear is next but I'm going to paint the tow hooks and need to get some stainless carriage bolts to put the 3 pieces together. Not going to use the old rusted ones. Thank You Dave Patten @ futofab.com.

I got a 73 240z and it has or style fiberglass fenders. I can't find any information on them. Anyone know anything about these or what they might be worth?

Don’t go into a happy dance until you have read all of this post. I tried fitting the new bumper to my car and determined the curve of the center piece was not a good match for the back of the car. Note that the car is accident-free and all of the body is exactly as delivered from the factory. Essentially, the arc on the bumper is less than the arc on the body (and the OE bumper). When attached to the stock mounts, the center of the bumper was pressing hard on the body. I attempted to warp the bumper section to increase the arc with little success. I did manage to introduce some very slight waves in the center of the bumper’s top surface – not …

In his book on restoring Z cars, Wick Humble makes installing the roof / ceiling liner sound tricky, but not all that hard. But as he warns, once you've stuck the first bit on, you can't go back. Now given that if you are just a few degrees out of perfect alignment when you start, you're likely going to be inches out when you get to the other end.. Does anyone have any tips for getting it right the first time, or alternatively any at-all-costs-avoid-this-mistake warnings? Many thanks.

I opened the package and was delighted with the quality. Then I noticed there were no holes for the rubber bumper strips. So what do I do? Drill the missing holes and install the rubber strips - or - since I'm getting ready to sell the Series I - install the bumper and harvest the strips for the new buyer to decide? The strips are about 2 years old and should be recoverable from the old bumper.

I recently had my 280Z painted. I would say an average paint job at best but the intent of the car is to drive often and not really looking for top notch show quality. With this said I would like for the paint job to have a little better shine. If that is the proper term. Sorry just not a paint guy. I am pretty sure that not much was done after the final coat of paint was applied. This was a single stage paint. Not sue exactly how many coats were applied or what process was used between coats. I did apply some compound by hand and that helped a little. It does have some shine but not as much as I would like. Maybe to late to really do anything here b…

I ordered a set of hood bumpers for my early 260z from Black Dragon and a bunch of under hood rubber bits to go with them. I was disappointed to find the hood bumper bolt was a standard phillips machine screw, and i was more disappointed to find that it was an SAE thread which did not match the car. On the plus side the rubber bumper looked to be the right size so I was able to put that on my old hood bumper. All said and done i got enough parts to get what I needed done but it sure missed my expectations. Attached are a side by side pic of the old and new, a pic of both with the rubber removed, my hybrid assembly and finally the finished installed product.
