Looking for info about the different styles of lower door hinges on 240Z. Mine was built 2/70 HLS30-01769. It doesn't have the roller & cam style hinge as seen on later Z's. It has no roller to provide a detente action. It has instead two short arms that sandwich the spring arm and limit the door opening travel. Any ideas about when the roller type hinges were introduced? I need to repair or replace. Thanks.

I am trying to figure out the exact stock paint "plan" for an early series 1 engine. I would like to know what pulleys are painted blue, which ones are natural or plated, what adjusting arms are painted blue, which ones are left natural or plated cadmium, what color was the air pump inlet painted or plated, Fan clutch finish, etc. If anybody has all the details I would greatly appreciate the time spent to detail it here. Thank you!

My driver's door doesn't line up on the rear edge, and it needs a slam to close it. From the looks of the gap along the top of the window frame, I think the door is a little lower at the rear. It fails the dollar bill test. So I have two choices, I'd say. I can align the striker or loosen the hinge bolts and align the entire door. Are the striker bolts usually really hard to turn? I think I might need an impact driver to get it loose... For the hinge bolts, what would be the best way to get to those? it looks like you need to take the fender off to get to them, unless you use a universal joint on a long ratchet extension. Or maybe a "good" body shop …

When I bought my Z from the PO, the body had been repainted and all of the small press-in clips used to secure the trim badges had been removed and lost. Now that I get around to replacing them, I find that I need 20 of them and they cost $2.50 each. That's $50 for a bagful of clips that I would have expected to be worth five bucks max (ok, maybe ten). Has anyone located a non-Nissan source, or a parts-store substitute, for these pieces? In Nissan parlance, these are: 'Clips - Tublar' (tubular) with the part number, 63845-18000 . In the non-Nissan world, I believe these are called 'trim barrel nuts'. Everybody used to use them back in the day. I think these a…

Anybody know a good replacement ? It cracked and fell off. Don't like the idea of water getting in there. I guess I could used one of those rubber vacuum caps and drill a hole in it, but it's hard to drill rubber.

I need to install a new firewall grommet for the wiper motor connection to the engine harness on my '72. The only thing I've read is of someone cutting the rubber and sliding it over the cable & then gluing the back side & putting it in the firewall. There's got to be a better way because that's not right. I think i could remove the wires from the plastic Shell and then pass them through the small hole of the grommet, install the rubber grommet and then place them back on the plastic Shell. anyone??? or is everynone cutting the grommet passing the wires and gluing back with crazy glue??

The paint shop that restored and paint my car cannot fit the front bumper guards in the new front bumper i bought! Really weird. I have attached pictures of the bumper without the guards. I bought this bumper on EBay and was shipped from Canada. Shop argues there is some slight difference between the original front bumper and this one and that there is not enough clearance between the bumper guards and the front Hood. if the Hood is opened it touches the bumper guards. How do we solve this issue? I thought the purpose of the Project was to have the car as it came out from the Factory in 1972. This is a US model!! Am i missing some parts here?

I have already purchased the front badge emblem, the 2 Fender emblems and the hatch 240z and Datsun emblem Brand new. Do i still need to get the receivers that secure the emblems from falling? I think they are called barrel nuts: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Barrel-Nuts-Qty-25-Fits-1-4-Stud-9-32-Hole-Trim-Emblem-Molding-015-/322144129293?hash=item4b0149510d:g:HXMAAOSwLnBXWaKn&vxp=mtr

I've just about had enough of cleaning, scrubbing, prepping, coating and painting BLUE stuff for this Z project. I am having a little bit of trouble trying to remember where it all goes. Am I close?
