Good morning. I'm looking at a list of fun winter projects, and I thought I'd tackle modifying a hood. I have a 1971 Datsun, but I have a spare 280Z hood (no louvers anymore) that was damaged in an accident a few years back. I was thinking I'd have some fun with it...maybe cut out some windows for Lexan or add some louvers or stainless trim...I'll have to sandblast it and do some repair work, but I was wondering if anyone's cut into one before or made modifications and wanted to share ideas. (I had even thought about painting it with chalk board paint so people could write on it at car shows.) All suggestions are welcome! In addition, it doesn't have a latch, so u…

Hey Guys, I have a 1970 S30 that I'm slowly restoring. It's a pretty straight and rust free car. The body panels are pretty wavy with it being so thin. I'm a ways out from having the money to have it painted and I'm thinking about having a wrap done on it until I have the funds to have a paint job done that will do the car justice. I'm at SEMA this week and I'm happy with how our vehicles turned out with their wraps and I've seen some pretty sweet wraps on other vehicles. Should I do a wrap to make the car look nice until I can get around to painting it? How bad would the imperfections in the body show?

I ordered paint for a Z with a build date of 7/72. The paint code sticker on the radiator support is blank or if anything was ever there it's gone. I have the original sales order for the car saying the paint code is 113, green metallic. The company I ordered the paint from called paint code 113 Avocado green metallic and is not remotely close to what's on the car. I'm not talking about the sun faded body but not close to what remains of the original paint under the carpet, Datsun logo and door jams. So is there a difference between green metallic and avocado green metallic or did the paint company just screw up.

If someone who has purchased the 240 ones recently could tell me of the fit and finish of what they have now, I'd appreciate it. I can only find comments, which weren't too good, from 5 years ago. Hopefully they have improved. I've found some at ztrix.com but they don't have the bracket landings glassed in, you have to run bolts through them to attach. He makes them for racers. I want the smooth finish like MSA's. Thank you for any response, Cliff

I just wanted to share this with you guys/gals, Ive wanted to paint my car since the day I bought it. Finally this summer I had some time and did it. It took me about a week to prep and 2 days to paint. Im supper happy with the outcome, specially considering that it is my first paint job EVER. There are a couple of spots that have orange peel and overspray, but fortunately they are not very noticeable. The paint shop that I bought all my supplies from was very helpful and gave me great tips on what to do and what not to do, also youtube is your best learning tool as far as getting ideas on spraying. thoughts?

Ok so I was one of those who threw down for Vintage Rubber kit and was less than impressed. All the seals fit OK except for the doors and the rear hatch seals so I scoured and spent $$$ for OE in these areas. Anyway I think the door seals I ended up with are likely for a 280 but whatever, they fit well and the issue with the VR seals is the metal U is ever so slightly thicker than the OE one therefore I, too, experienced the door slamming issues in spite of trying every trick in the book to sort it out. Anyway I installed one of the seals today and it seems like it is about 1.5" to long...the seal is on perfectly so the only thing I can think of is this needs to be tr…

Howdy, About to pull the trigger on frame rails, and floor pans for my Z, wanted to shoot it by you guys before pulling the trigger on the order. (its $$$$! ) Note* everything below is based on assumptions that I have made from reading peoples posts online. Correct me if I'm wrong. So there appears to be 2 main contenders for frame rails, being Bad Dog, and Zedds Findings (whom supplies other shops as well), as far a floor pans are concerned Zedds Findings is the way to go, unless there is another supplier that I'm not thinking of. For the Frame Rails, Bad Dog Auto has a thicker gauge of metal that they use and may have to be cut in certain sections depending on ho…

Higuys, On my 1978 coupe, I need to replace the front sections of the bodyside mouldings on my vehicle, and I would like to know if you can get new material that is the same, or would it be fine to go with something that is period-correct. lease keep in mind that only the front pieces are attached with double-sided tape, and the sections on the doors and sail panels are attached with rivets, and I will not be replacing the latter for a few years, probably. In any case, where can you get that stuff? I haven't seen that stuff since the 80s or early 90s.
