Everytime I convince myself I am not really an idiot, I do something like this.... I was concerned with my inability to weld, so I took my 240 to a guy on my road that I was told was "an old-school" welder, that he could weld anything. I figured that welding was welding, so I trailered it over to him, showed him EXACTLY what I wanted, and left it in his capable hands. Four days later, I get a call that it is ready. I head over to see it, and see visible gaps between the new panels and the old, and thick, very thick metal welded in some of the larger gaps. Hi guys. I recently bought some rubber seals from MSA (by Precision?) for when I do a respray of the body. However I thought I would replace the hood to cowl seal and found that it felt rather inferior to the original in size and quality. Is there another source for getting this seal that is closer to original? Image shows the difference in profile. The larger one is the original and the rubber is better quality. The shorter length of the other does not fix the greatest to the body edge fold.

Hi Guys, I am currently doing a minor refurbishment of my 1970 240Z (HS30-00084) and have noticed little things around the car that I have not seen mentioned much and thought I would post some thoughts because these are the sort of things that get missed during a restoration. 1. The wire looms going through ther radiator wall are protected by a rubber/plastic ring around the opening. You will also notice the radiator mount was painted by hand in black behind the grille in a very rough way. 2. I already have black paint missing off my hood emblem, and it's only a little over a year on the hood and hardly driven. Suffice it to say that I'm disappointed. WTF kind of crap are they selling out there. I didn't get this at a dealer, but it was in a Nissan parts box so I guess it makes no difference. Anyone else have this happening?

the rear strut bar for 280ZX can be used on 240z? (I mean the bar inside the car) what is the differences ? the 3 holes for mounting suspension are equal to the 240z? the distance between the two suspension is longer, shorter, equal? for the front bar to be inserted above the engine of the 240z, I can use the scroll bar of the 280ZX? what are the differences? thanks

I've got a 76 2+2. Is the windshield the same for the coupe as the 2+2? The windshield they sent me says it is for the coupe, but I'm thinking they are the same. Second question; After installing the new windshield I'm having trouble getting the lower outside corners of the weather strip lip to cover the body flange. The weather stripping I'm using came new from The Z Store (It is the 2+2 weather stripping). Any tricks or suggestions on how to get it to "stretch" enough for the lip to cover that gap? I'd hate to just gob-it-up with a caulking. Thanks Gary

Hi all; Please take a look at the nose of my '74 260z. It has been heavily modified for racing, but it is so low to the ground that I can't load the car onto a trailer without tearing it up. And since this car races at less than 125 mph, the aerodynamic advantage isn't that great. I would like to restore the front end to a stock appearance as inexpensively as possible. I just want the car to look like it did from the factory; nothing more. Can anyone tell me where I can find these parts? The basic grill and lower valance is (I think) all I need. Is there a source of used parts that I should consult? Thanks for any direction you can offer.

How do you remove the "rain gutter" trim that runs above the rear window, over the side window then down the A pillar? Searched the forums but no luck finding. Piece seems easily disfigured if done incorrectly......which I would probably do. TIA. JW

Ok, it appears that I have decided to paint the z myself. I know that it wont be easy and I will make mistakes. I am going to try and have someone that knows what they are doing to look at the car after I have sanded down old paint, after body work, after primer, etc. Currently going with a grey/silver strip color scheme. I will be adding a little orange accent at least this is the plan. I purchased the DA sander today and began to sand just a little. Couple question; 1) Should I sand down to bare metal.
