66 Auto Color Just wanted to share the good luck I had with the single stage paint product I purchase from this company. I used the Max 2K with PPG 23576 Butterscotch. I was reasonably close to my exterior, and plenty suitable for the interior that will be covered with carpet. I used white Rust-oleum primer first.

I about have the Z ready to paint. The car color will be "Lemon Ice" which is a very bright yellow. I was going to paint the under side of the car black and the wheel wells black. I was also planning on blacking out behind the grill. My question is where do I paint yellow and where do I stop the yellow. Do I paint the whole front clip yellow and just black out the wheel wells and the radiator support? Do I paint the underside of the front rails black instead. What would you paint yellow on the inside? All of it? Some of it? None of it? I plan on using a lot of sound mat so I don't know what makes the most sense. Every thing will be epoxied primed to get started... Thanks,…

Hi all.. 72 240, doing floor repair. I bought the car with the area under the seat completely shot, fiberglassed over, every wrong thing you can imagine. The front floorboard looked good. After removing the rubberized coating, I noticed what I would call pinholes in the floor, up where the passenger's left foot might rest. I have a new full length floorboard ready to go. So...do I cut the whole thing out, or just weld/POR15 the little holes, and put new metal in the back? thoughts? Thanks!

I have a rear bumper from a 72, that has the extra bar on top of the regular bumper, which guys around here call the sissy. Does it add value? I am considering getting it cleaned and chromed and will try to sell, if I don't decide to keep it for my other 72. Thoughts? Curtis 72 72

While driving at night, I have noticed a few vehicles swerving as if they, at the last moment, saw the lights and just missed hitting the back. Maybe the drivers were not paying attention to the road in front of them or they were tired, but our Datsuns are not really known for being as brightly-lit in the dark as modern cars are, even with all the DeOxit I used and the modern lightbulbs. The taillights on the S30 are not all that bright, although we try to get them that way, so I wondered if a few reflector strips might make the car more noticeable in the dark.

Hello again all! I have discovered the original color of my 72 as the lime green they call yellow. I like it ok, but was thinking of either blue or grey for my project. I am still months away, but I thought I would ask....would you admire a z that stayed true to colors available at production, even if the car wasn't restored back to original? I will have 4 wheel disc, l28/e31 combo, 17 inch rims, etc. Thoughts?

Hey guys, in the process of getting my 240z ready for the road, I realized it had no side mirrors, so I bought a new one, specifically, a new-in-box OEM flag mirror. While looking it over, I noticed this little defect, which you should be able to see in the picture. I can see how it could happen when folding over the edge, and I can see how it would be hard to avoid, but is it 'normal?' Or should I send it back? This may be a silly question, but thought I'd ask. This is mine: This is another pic I found on here, looks like it might have the same defect, in the same place (outermost edge when mounted), if you look at the one on the right. Thoughts?

I'm looking to get a couple of Series-1 Valve Covers powdered coated, but the internal baffle is riveted in. Has anyone removed that baffle before? Am I alright to pop those out, so long as I re-rivet when finished? I'm nervous to remove that baffle without learning whether its been done, and couldn't find anything. Most other posts allude to those being screws, but I suppose those are later-model Valve Covers.

I'll show you what I'm dealing with on my 280z, and perhaps get some advice! What is the "interior of the fuel door" called? The metal where the fuel filler neck is mounted. Is a replacement part for this made? I believe this is a pretty common rust area, due to spilled gas? Has anyone done this repair before? Any good guides? I'm in Seattle, if anyone has a recommendation for a good shop.

It seams that no matter how many pictures I take I am always missing the one I need. I'm installing all of my weatherstripping and seals and I was hoping someone can post some pictures of how the upper corner door seals are glued on? I'm having trouble figuring out the positioning. A picture of the rubber is attached so you know what I'm talking about. Thanks as always! Matt
