There aren't many good mirrors for our cars. Anybody try the BRE mirrors yet? If so, what do you think of them for vibration, looks and function? BRE: *NEW* BRE Datsun 240Z-280Z Mirror Kit

I am getting ready to paint my 76 280 2+2 and have a few questions. I know that styles or a preference but just would like some feedback. First question; I like the color scheme of the 280 attached. Does anyone know who owns this car or the actual colors. I assume the strips are white but would be nice to know exact colors and where to purchase. I am going to paint the car myself. My current thought is to add a thin orange strip on the inside of each of the white strips and a little orange in my rims. I have a need for some orange in the car. Don't ask. Second question; I am going to add a body kit to my car. I am looking at the MSA Type II kit but not sure wha…

I got a new hatch for my car since the old one had a dozen holes in it for a spoiler and louvers. The new hatch fits fine, but has some small dents to fill. It is bare metal and I have not yet transferred the rear glass from the old hatch to the new one. Should I just use a self-etching primer before installing the new glass with a new rubber seal? I have some POR15 I could use on the area where the rubber rests to help prevent rust if that is advisable. Let me know what you think, this is a car that I like to keep on the road pretty much all the time. It is already four different colors, so having a primer hatch does not bother me. In a related item, getting the gl…

I have been steadily refreshing my engine bay for all winter and now its almost time to paint it... EXCEPT i dont know what to do with those dang fuel/brake lines. I have sanded them to look perfect, almost chrome like. Now i just realised that they'll rust eventually if not coated with something.. :/ I called to paint shop and asked if they could be coated with clear coat...NAY they say. What would you do?

I don't know what it's called, but the area behind where my fenders attach to the inside of the engine bay had some issues with rust. By issues I mean I took off the fender to do some preventative POR and found that there were holes straight through the metal. I'm grinding the rust off now with some wire brushes, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the repair. I figure I have a couple of options: I could cut out the old stuff (the leftover holy metal) weld some sheet metal together and try a (probably ghetto, but hidden) replacement. I'd probably leave a hole in it for water to get out in the future. I could try filling in holes with epoxy (I have a pound or s…

I was wondering if any one has purchased and installed one of these: Black Dragon Automotive - Parts & Accessories for Datsun 240Z, 260Z, 280Z, 280ZX & Mazda RX7 If so, how well did it fit the contour of the car? I've ordered fiberglass parts before (eg, a front air dam) and it took a lot of grinding and filling to make them fit. Also, how does it attach? Do you drill thru the hatch lid (outer and inner skin) to bolt it on? Do I have to remove the rear deck (hatch) emblems and will it cover all of the holes? Is the back side (underneath) open (hollow)? If any one has any pics regarding mounting a rear spoiler, that'd be great. Thanks Gary

Hi all, I heard about a way to find windhsield leaks between the glass and the rubber by putting baby powder on the outside at the junction between the rubber and the glass. Compressed air is then directed at the windshield on the inside of the car at the junction between the rubber and the glass. Anyplace where the powder is blown away is a place where there is a leak. I wonder if this would work to find a leak between the rubber and the car metal? Maybe a leaf blower used inside the car would work to force the air around finishers inside the car? Anyone else heard of ideas on finding leaks around the windshield? I want to be sure my car doesn't leak as an anti r…

When the car has completed the road safety check I'm planning on spraying all the rusty hollow places that the car has with some kind of spray to stop the rust process for most of the part. You guys have any advice on spots where I can go in to reach these places? Like the inner fenders rear, doglegs ( i believe that's how you call em? ) front frame rails etc.. I saw this stuff from Eastwood, anyone got any experience with that? At home I also do have Valvoline ML, but maybe this Eastwood stuff or others are better for the job? Hey, more pictures of my z. I got the car in 2008 and had not been able to start on it until now. I have new old stock hood, cowl, right rear quarter panel, and hatch, as well as roof skin. I am sand blasting all areas and using Por 15 and PPG epoxy primer.

Hi... paint process is almost done, and need to ask a couple questions about the decal pictured in the attachment. How long should I wait to apply it (paint cure; single stage enamel).... and.... Has anybody applied this one? On research, there are two kinds of decals... one you apply with a water/soap and move it in place kind, and the second is tape in place and use the two step peel off.... If you have done this decal, can you tell me which it is and give me a few hints? I have watched a couple of You Tube videos but need to know what type this is... any/all help appreciated... thanks...
