Was reading this older thread about restoring the 240z Airbox: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/thread37440.html Went to the store to grab the Dupli-Color DE1620 Chevrolet Orange and next to it on the shelf was Dupli-Color DE1652: Chrysler Hemi Orange. On the shelf, DE1652 appeared to be a better match to the original Airbox color. This coming from someone who (a) didn't have his airbox in front of him, and ( has never seen a Clean, Original box. Mine has 40 years of grime on it. I had a spare in the garage that I accidentally ran over last year. Never threw it away, because situations like this come around which totally validate being a pack rat. Airbox: Suppli…

The PO took them off. The holes are there but I only found one bolt, not too fond of them but I wanna put them on. Are they just bolted on? Nut / bolt? And what's the deal with these anyway? Was it just a fancy factory option?

I have a rattle in the wipers (since my polyurethane suspension bushing upgrade) and decided to remove the motor and control rods to see what was causing it. The control rods are not tight which is what is causing the rattle. 3 Rubbers normally provide tension and stop the rattles, but my rubbers are so worn they are not doing anything anymore. I have searched the common places on the internet but had no luck. I want to order the parts C-04 & C-05 on Banzai's webshop, but they don't have the rubbers in the control rods. http://www.zzxdatsun.com/catRubber.php I was wondering if an O-ring would do and if anyone has done this or other mod to fix the problem. I have i…

Was the outside rear view mirror on the '76 280z 2+2 the same color as the rear panel? This appears to have been the case for my faded mirror housing.

I've got the engine running really well on my 76 2+2 and now I'm starting to work on the body. I've got a bad lower door on the driver's side (rusty). Does anyone know where I can order a lower door skin for the 2+2? I see Long Motors and others sell doors skins for the coupe, but not the 2+2 which I believe is a little longer. Unless I bought 2 and somehow spliced them together to get the correct fit? Or am I stuck with fabricating a custom patch or looking to buying a used 2+2 door somewhere/ Thanks Gary

My "free" 240Z ('72) did not come with a hood although the hood hinges were still on the car. I found a nice used hood for a reasonable price and it bolted right up. Unfortunately the front is too high by about 3/8 inch compared to the headlight buckets. I found a lot of advice on the forum on how to address this, but first I need to figure out how to align the hood left to right. It appears to be just barely hitting a bolt on the drivers side which I am sure may be contributing to the height problem. Any advice on this? Thanks so much, Gary

My Z looks pretty good as it sits, but there are spots that are a little bare and SHOULD be covered up. The rainy season is starting here in northern California and I would like to protect my shell as much as possible. I have been told by a few that a good and semi cheap way was to protect my car. I was looking for everyone's/anyone's input

well after a none starter with some others I've got some floor rails, went for 1.5mm over the standard 1.2, over length too. Best bit was paying £25 for the pair, If I had a few sets made it drops to £18. The top hat bend is a 100% perfect match for the originals. Only issue is matching the factory formed end, now I did create a couple of bends to match but they didn't look like the original ones Option 1: While recovering from smacking my thumb I thought about cutting the end off the original rails and butt welding them onto the new ones, does this sound like a decent idea? I can't see what issues it'll cause(except the slight stepdown in thickness). and have them …
