Back to the project....I feel like I'm not making much progress, and the frustration is mounting. Basically, I think rear half of the car is in decent shape and can be easily cleaned up. However, the front half is a mess. I know I will need to get new floor pans and was planning on it anyway, but the front frame and everything else up there is looking like I might make it worse if I get it media blasted. So what I need to know is if I should continue with this project or count my losses and stop wasting my time and money (not that I've spent much). I don't want to get into this so deep that I will be angry for spending the money and NOT finishing it. I was hoping to…

Does anybody know where to get a three piece rear spoiler? It looks something like the spoiler on the 1970-79 Z-28 Camaros.

Hey, I did not take apart the shell that I am working on. I have a 77 280Z and need to know what parts and how to install the rear light panel. I have read that I need some plastic rivets, but is there a plastic or metal strip that goes above the rivets along the area where the rear hatch closes down? Where can I find those rivets? Are there any other acceptable alternatives to using the rivets? Please advise this inexperienced new-be. Thank you. Body work is done and trying to reassemble. I have a good assembly book, but it is for a 240Z and I am unsure of the differences for attaching the rear panel. I also looked at the CD, but was unsure if anything other than th…

Hi guys, I have removed my engine for a stock rebuild on my 1970 240Z. The guys at nissan were in a hurry and sprayed the 'turquoise' (Nissan blue-green) engine block colour on all sorts of things. However the the engine brackets that are bolted to the block are two different colours- see pics. The right one is black and the left one is blue. What was meant to be the colour of these brackets on this car?

Ok, I know immediately that I am going to get blasted for this post. Getting ready to have my 76 280Z painted and I know that no one can tell you what color to paint your car. The car is completely stock but I am not sold on going back to the original color which was green. I am leaning towards a shade of orange but go back and forth. My friend is suggesting painting like a budlight beer can, light blue with grey and red strip. I am looking for a color that makes a statement but not like other cars on the road. If you have any suggestion I would appreciate and if so photos would be nice. Also, I am considering a body kit with both front and rear spoilers and side piece…

I am getting ready to paint my car and have a few projects left. Painting scheduled for 30 days from now. The two screws holding my stock side mirrors to the car appear to be stripped on both mirrors. Also, the mirror body tends to rotate to easy and moves during driving. Thirdly the glass is not perfect. Can these items be fixed? As anyone had similar issues? Is there a plate inside the door that the screws actually go into or is it just the door itself? Any help would be appreciated. Side note I am leaning torward a combination orange and blue paint job. Wife is trying to talk me into something a little more conservative (dark green or cherry red).

Hey guys, I've recently sanded and treated some minor rust underneath the cowl in the plenum area where the wiper motor etc. goes and i remember a while back seeing a Custom Z that had a solid cowl (e.g no air induction holes) and i was wondering since this area is prone to rust if it would be a good idea to fill in the holes of my cowl (at least on the driver side and leave the passenger side as is for the heater air intake.) Would this cause the wiper motor to overheat? I'm trying to figure out why the holes are there other than to gather leaves and wet slush.(even though I've treated with POR I'm still paranoid). Looking for an opinion on this, is it is a bad idea? Tha…

I have come to learn that the front and rear bumpers of the 280Z are extremely heavy. With this in mind, I would like to know if any smaller, more lightweight bumpers from previous Z's would fit my 280. Width is my only real concern as holes can be drilled to match.

Hello everyone, I have a 73 body and a 72 parts car. After removing the engine and trans from the 72,I found that the bell-crank pivot is about 3/4 of an inch shorter in the 73 will a 73 bell-crank work? Also the hole in the fire wall is larger on the 73, and no mount for the clutch slave plumping. Any other changes that I may need to know? Thanks, John

I was searching for paint colors for the engine and engine compartment and came across a list like this but it was for an early Z and a few years old. Does this list work for a 1973 240z? Please make changes as needed or add to the list. Note: it was mentioned about a lot of overspray that left items looking blue. Block: Datsun Engine Blue Oil Pan: Black; Semi-Gloss - gloss Crank Pulley- Engine Blue Smog/ Air Pump Pulley - Engine Blue Smog/ Air Pump Casing: Natural Smog/ Air Pump Rear Plate: Semi gloss Black Bolts and fittings were all cad plated /(depending on location might be painted engine blue) Timing Cover - Natural Aluminum Water Pump: Natural Alternator Casing - …

This shows a picture of my car upside down. Where the back lower panel is, on the picture it shows a paper towel in between where the spare tire well is and where the lower panel connects. The space is only big enough for the paper towel to fit in. Does anybody know how much space is between the spare tire well and the lower panel? The rear end had been pushed in from a wreck apparently. Thank you very much- TimZ
