I was searching for paint colors for the engine and engine compartment and came across a list like this but it was for an early Z and a few years old. Does this list work for a 1973 240z? Please make changes as needed or add to the list. Note: it was mentioned about a lot of overspray that left items looking blue. Block: Datsun Engine Blue Oil Pan: Black; Semi-Gloss - gloss Crank Pulley- Engine Blue Smog/ Air Pump Pulley - Engine Blue Smog/ Air Pump Casing: Natural Smog/ Air Pump Rear Plate: Semi gloss Black Bolts and fittings were all cad plated /(depending on location might be painted engine blue) Timing Cover - Natural Aluminum Water Pump: Natural Alternator Casing - …

This shows a picture of my car upside down. Where the back lower panel is, on the picture it shows a paper towel in between where the spare tire well is and where the lower panel connects. The space is only big enough for the paper towel to fit in. Does anybody know how much space is between the spare tire well and the lower panel? The rear end had been pushed in from a wreck apparently. Thank you very much- TimZ

OK, my paint job on my 76 2+2 scheduled to start July 8th. I beleive I have settled on painting the car orange. A few reasons but the one that makes most since is that I owned a 77 280z back in the early 80's and it was orange. I am thinking about adding a MSA Type 2 body kit and a classic style rear spoiler. I would appreciate any feedback on my choices or other suggestions. Also, I am totally ignorant on adding a body kit or spoiler for that matter. I do not have front or rear bumpers. Not sure if this is a problem or if they or hardware for them is needed. Just looking for a little dialogue before I pull the trigger.

Saw a few videos on youtube that caught my eye. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lG6O5lvhm8 www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqDqKzzq4ZQ I'm pretty sure the first video is mirror silvering even though they call it paint on their web site. Might be an interesting technique for restoring tail light frames, ventilation ducts and the like. You would need to put a real good clear coat on it to keep air out of it. Wonder if a valve cover finish done with silvering would hold up. Anyone tried this kind of approach. Results look fantastic, but since its silver, it could tarnish. MirraChrome looks to be similar but aluminum instead of silver and recommends lots of top coat as well. …

my friend Mitch stopped by today to check out my z body that I picked up in Dallas. Mitch is a life long body man, he was impressed with the condition of the body. No need to take it to his shop. I can do it all in mine. got a list of supply's,and after waiting a year and a half I begin.http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/images/smilies/happy.gif

Bought a pair of '89 - '90 Sentra Sport Coupe mirrors to install. Bracket fabrication is required. Has anyone done this mirror conversion before? If so, can you provide any advice, tips, etc.? Thanks!

I’ve spent my free time over the last year breathing life back into the Z that sat for 10 years and now my thoughts are drifting to body work. Mine is a light blue 76 280. Even though the back panel has faded I can still remember a dark bronze color that always drew me in. I was burning some free time at work today and found a Rust-Oleum color that feels right. It is Rust-Oleum 248636 Metallic Oil Rubbed Bronze. Am I getting close with this color, or is there an actual color I can purchase at the auto paint store? Chris

My 280zxt block is headed to the machine shop next week. I thought about painting it blue, close to the Datsun color or a GM Mopar blue; something close. I have a silver car and plan on reshooting the engine bay while my motor is out. I got to thinking a dark metallic gunmetal grey might look good against my light silver engine bay? Any negatives to using metallics on a block? Oldsmobile had a bad arse bronze metallic they used on blocks in the mid 60's that might look cool too. Thoughts?

I'm leaning towards installing Motorsport flush mounted mirrors on my 240z. They're a bit modern-looking, but quality and good visibility is more important to me than aesthetics in this case. I was hoping I could get some feedback from owners of these mirrors. Dave
