TomoHawk Posted February 12, 2004 Share #135 Posted February 12, 2004 Originally posted by GunnerRob From what I’ve noticed, most of the members “around here†are knowledgeable, educated, well-informed people who rely on the written (and defined) word as a basis for intelligent communication. Yeah, right. Can you explain why so many "literate" people don't know the difference between the use of: to, too and two? there, their, and they're? were, we're and where? you, your , and you're? quite and quiet? no and know? Others, too numerous to keep track of, but these are the most common. I suspect most of those kinds of people can't even pronounce numbers greater than 100 properly, either. 99% of people don't, even professional speakers and printers. Half a nise deigh. hls30.com Posted February 13, 2004 Share #141 Posted February 13, 2004 To TomoHawk,It is actually too bad that to many people don't know that there is quite a difference between their use of similar words, and the proper use of the same words. They're putting the rest of us in a bad position, and we're aware of the two or more similar words with completely different meanings. It makes you wonder about the differences between where they were educated and where the knowledge we're blessed with came from. You're right if you noticed the verb change in that last sentence No, those are not your two gold stars! Keep pointing out errors, especially mine, I have found you get better when you play against better players, and that elevates the field! To the rest of you, if you can get a point across, you are doing OK!
