Can anyone name another vehicle that is referred by a single letter like the "Z". No don't say "Model A" because that car is referred as a "Model A" not just an "A".

The push for using the metric system in the US was instigated by the large tool and fastener manufacturers. Tool sales had stagnated because everyone already had their SAE toolsets by 1970, so they figured we'd all have to buy new tools for the metric nuts and bolts, thereby stimulating sales. Had nothing to do with making measuring and figurin' easier. Just an evil plot by big business. Paranoia strikes deep. :paranoid: :classic:

C/P was gone by 84, but they did win the GT-1 and GT-2 Championship in 84.

Nissan also won the D/P championship in 69-72 and 1980.

They won the 24 hrs of daytona the 12 hrs of sebring and the gt 1 in the 24 hrs of la mans one year to. But i cant think of the year.

Looking through my books I came up with;

How about MG A, MG B, MG C, "E' Type Jag, "S" Type Jag, Austin had the 7, 8 and 10, Leyland had the P76 and Chrysler had the S1 and S2 Valiant. Of course you'd have to be talking about the particular make of car to recognise the terminology.

Here in the land down under, if you were to mention a;

FX, FJ, FC, FE, EK, EJ, EH, HD, HR, HK, HQ, everyone would know that you were talking about our locally made Holdens. Likewise, LC, LJ, LH, LX, are Torana's. HK, HT, HG, HQ, HJ, and HX are our early Monaro "Muscle" cars.

All the above do not meet your criteria but it's the best I can find so far. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable will do better.

Just as a point of interest, if you do a search on the web for "Z Car Clubs", you are likely to find sites dedicated to Zephyr (Ford), and Zodiac.
