Hey Rick, I was really looking for cars that are known like our beloved Datsuns, only by a single letter. But you sure did come up with alot of others. Points are given to you for actully looking info up in a book LOL

There is actully a car club dedicated to the Ford Zephyr? Do they have one for the Ford Granada also :bunny: Man, the conversations on that site must be mind numbing

Could it be that our "Z" stands alone in this category?

Keep guessing

Vicky

Hey there Alfapup,

Do you mean the Citroen ID 19, DS19, DS20, DS21, or DS23 ????????

By the way Vicki,

I've checked my books and come up empty handed. So, unless one of our club "Brains" comes up with something, it looks like, as always, the "Z" stands alone.

Rick.

Well I beleive that our "Z" does stand alone as far as name recognition. When someone says "nice Z Car" you know they are talking about our cars and not the BMW Z3 or the Chevy Camaro Z28. The only other vehicle that uses a letter with the word "Car" to describe it would be the... I really hate to even say this.."The K-Car". But it's true name was the Reliant K. You could walk up to someone and say "nice K Car" and everyone would know what vehicle your describing. You'd be an idiot to even say that but that's what I was trying to get across ROFL

The Z does stand alone Rick!!!

I'd have no idea what a "K car" is, so I guess it's to do with local car culture as much as anything else...... D, E and M work for me!

Here's one: The Z is known for having neat (and finicky) little inspection flaps just next to the bonnet for the battery and brake fluid. The Toyota 2000GT had similar flaps, and also had little compartments behind the front wheels. What are these compartments for, and are there any other cars with a similar feature?

"K" was the code name for the project when these cars were being created(early/mid 80's). It leaked out to the public in the USA, big time because Chrysler was looking for government loan guarentees to help bail out the company. The had been asleep at the wheel while the japanese automakers had increased market share and cleaned their clocks.
