Coolant lines on Carbs?

I was just curious what the point of the coolant lines were on the carbs. I have not seen them before, but only dealt with down draft carbs in the past. Is this to keep them cool from the exhaust manifold right below?

On another not many of the coolant lines on my carbs are cracked or leaking. Can I just replace these with regular coolant hoses or do I need to protect them somehow for the heat?

On 240Z's the coolant flow through the intake manifold and carbs was to heat the carbs quiker upon "cold starts". After a certain temperature is reached, there is a valve that closes to shut off the colant flow.

I would asume that the purpose is the same on 260Z's with the "bodanker" carbs.

Now for replacing the lines there with regular lines from the parts store - do you think that would be fine or would I have to wrap them with a "Heat Wrap" kind of material?

"Normal" water/coolant line should be fine. They weren't covered in a heat wrap from the factory.

Okay thanks. I guess at some point in my cars history someone thought they needed to be. They have what looks like header wrap around them. It is pretty old looking so I was not sure if this was an original item or not.
