February 16, 200421 yr comment_68735 Those wheels alone look to be worth 200 to 250! Of course, its the stuff underneath that needs the most attention eh? February 17, 200421 yr comment_68814 Actually this one isn't going to be put upside at all. My buddy is the manager at a 4 bay lube it all shop near my house so we have access to a lift and three pits so that is going to make things soooo much easier. most of the work will be done on sundays while the place is closed and we have it ALL to ourselves. First order, pull the motor and slap it on a stand for teardown and refresh. the head gasket is really questionable, or it could be the head. either way teardown is the only way to go and while you have the head off, you guessed it. Why not do all the gaskets, timing chain and gears, lap the valves, check the mains, the cylindars, blah blah blah. There will be no better time than now to do all of that. while the motors out and what not we can focus on taking care of the frame rail issues and such. the battery well is totally solid and the pans are intact so theres not much to be concerned about. thankfully this is more of a joint project for my best friend and I and his first opportunity with a first gen Z. Larry, I'll let you know when we plan on pulling the motor and such. We're in the process of putting together a parts list and inventory of what we need and get a game plan together. My welder has been awfully busy this year!!!!!!!!! we'll post pics of our progress for everyone to see. Z car number 9 in total Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10125-1978-datsun-280zfor-sale-cheap/?&page=2#findComment-68814 Share on other sites
