Posted February 10, 200421 yr comment_67853 The oil light next to the oil temperature needle has started to intermittanlty come on in my 280zx. I doubt it is oil getting too hot as it is usually on when the car is first started cold, then disapears and comes on in various situations while driving.I am wondering if this light refers to oil pressure not temperature which is featured on the lower half of the same guage? February 10, 200421 yr comment_67856 If it comes on when you first turn the ign on them I reckon it has to be pressure----- pull the spade off the pressure switch on the block on see if it still comes on. February 10, 200421 yr comment_67874 If the light is connected to a sending unit that is as unpredictable as the ones that are used for the oil pressure on the early cars, it may just be a faulty sending unit.I don't know what type of sending units they used on the ZX's, but I doubt they are any more reliable than the early cars if it is an electric sending unit.
