Posted February 12, 200421 yr comment_68212 I've lined up myself a 280ZX L28 along with all the loom and ECU for AU$150. Only catch being the thing hasn't been run in about two years, so I was thinking of pulling it down and giving it a basic freshen up.I've been recommended I replace the big end bearings and gaskets. Anything else that should get done while I am at it, keeping in mind that I'm on a tight budget at the moment? February 12, 200421 yr Author comment_68213 Oh yeah... i was thinking of sticking with the carbs for now seeing as mine as freshly rebuilt. Any thoughts on that? Would the old Bosch L-jet be worth the hastle of installing? February 13, 200421 yr comment_68222 youd be crazy not to put new rings in it if your pulling it down,it would be easier to stick with the carbs for now but its up to you really if you want to go through the trouble of putting on the injection. its a crap injection system anyway.... February 13, 200421 yr Author comment_68226 Whoops. Yeah meant to add rings to the list. My thoughts are pretty much the same on the injection system. Not worth the hastle. February 13, 200421 yr comment_68230 A set of crank and rod bearings, new rings and of course seals, and gaskets. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10165-freshening-up-an-l28-on-a-tight-budget/#findComment-68230 Share on other sites
February 13, 200421 yr comment_68231 If you do the rings, you'd do yourself well to give it a hone-job. Bearings are always a good idea. And gaskets of course. Check the pressure hoses, etc. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10165-freshening-up-an-l28-on-a-tight-budget/#findComment-68231 Share on other sites
February 15, 200421 yr comment_68503 I pulled my head off and found out it was all corroded. So I had to buy another head. There could be other things you find which are wrong with the engine once you crack the head as well....so be prepared.
