As opposed to totally restoring the interior to original, which would mean of turning the whole car to original, I think Im just going to make a car with a more modern look. I need a few ideas so I can start sketching and get a general idea of what I want the interior to look like. Im probably going to go for a tan and black interior color scheme. Keep the dash, but get a dashcover due to cracking, and I think I can get some black seats out of a wrecked Miata, and the rest is going to be changed.

Thinking so far, make some black speaker or just regular boxes covering the three sides of the trunk area, covering the lower, but not replacing, the rear quarter plastic panels and totally replacing the rear panel. Still haven't decided how Im going to cover them or what material to use.

Trunk space is most likely going to be covered in tan carpet as is the front area. Doors are gonna be a tan center with black edges. Maybe incorperate some grey/polished aluminum metal accents, and some wood, sorta found in newer cars today. Gonna make it simple, nothing too fancy other than stitching a tan Z logo in the seats maybe?

This will all look very well and I guess luxurious with a deep silver paint color.

I love the design of the original Z interior, but I didn't want to keep the black. The interior of my husbands car (see gallery) has retained the original seat and door design but I just had it covered in different shades of leather. I must take credit for the design of the interior and my husband gets the credit for the engine, body and graphics. The choices are endless but the wallet isn't. LOL

For a car that pretty, there is a lot of credit! Beautiful work!

Thanks hls30.com. I guess with my last post I've kinda given it away that I'm a female chatting with a bunch of guys about Z cars. On this site Zrush is under my husband Scotts' name but I do all the talking. I guess now I have an excuse for all the dumb things I've said. My husband knows way more about the Z car than me but I love chatting with everyone. Hope no one minds.

We are all here to learn from, and chat with, each other, and I am glad you are here! The dumbest things anyone can do are: not ask a question, and ignore a question when they have an answer.

I have some plans to update the materials of the interior of my car without changing the styling cues in shape. I am not yet there-the car is waiting for some time on its roof! I Hope it turns out as beautiful as your car!

I like what you've done with the design and colors of the interior, zrush. Scott's portion is well done too. It's evident you two have put alot of thought, time, and money into this project. Is it strictly a show car? The treatment to the side markers is a nice touch. I'd like to see more shots of the interior if you have them!

Now that you confessed to being the writer of most of your posts, I'd like to say that it is nice to have a woman's viewpoint/input here. Now I see why you enjoy the jokes as much as you do.

So....do we refer to you as Mrs. Scott? And how will we know when it's you vs. Scott?

Thanks for the nice comments about the car. If I had a digital camera I could post more pics. Zparts.com has some shots from the 2003 MSA show.

This car is set up for the track as well as show. Scott did all that could be done to a Z and still keep it drivable (at least for him).

When I get the camera I will upload pics of my FR 1972 240Z. That's my baby.

I will start signing my name so you know whos' posting.

Yes, it was all me! I was in PCB, Fla, picked up a scalop, and thought, "this is the color combo what I want for my ZX!" I found the carpet at Home Depot, bought a strip 5' wide, and carpeted the whole car with it(see it at hls30.com). The old headliner material was falling. I removed the headliner, pulled the rest of the fabric off, sanded off the rest of the decomposing foam, blew off the residue, coated the headliner with one thick coat of silver por15(heat reflective) and used the red can of 3M Weldwood as adhesive. It has been over two years-I did the headliner as a test before doing anything else cosmetic to the car-and it hasn't loosened. The Trim around the t-tops was not on all the way in the picture, the striations in the carpet are straight and parallel to the openings, and the trim spacing relative to the patern in the carpet are uniform. Keeping the paterns straight and the trim spacing uniform and mirror imaged really sets the work off!

After living with it a while, the Maroon is too purple as it has faded, but I still like the carpet The t-top shades and mechanism covers will get the same carpet, but I will change the butgandy back to a red

Thanks for the compliment,

Will
