Pictures of Custom Interiors

Wow both interiors are just...wow.

Zrush few questions:

Where did you get those armrests, doorhandles and window roller for the door?

Nice job on the doors, did you do it yourself?

What materials did you use for the carpet and trunk space?

What did you use for the backing on the grey leather over the wheel wells? Fiberboard, fiberglass, just glue it on?

Do you still have the templates for those covers over the rear roll bar area?

What kinda dash is that?

Again, very nice job inside and out, quality show car, and would make an excellent daily driver that would wet any car enthusiats pants.

Hls30.com-

Very original, and you just gave me an idea for the headliner:stupid: :geek:

Ok, I think I got my interior designed layed out, just give me a few months and Ill post pics. So busting out a Lazarus on this thread at about June. Till then, keep up the beautiful Z's.

The interior of that car was done by "Street Seats" here in Florida. The door handles and window cranks are from "Little Joe's Hot Rod Shop", but I'm sure most custom shops can get them. The armrests are stock, but just covered in leather. Matter of fact the entire interior including the seats are stock but covered in leather. The dash is just painted gray to match. Since we had extra leather left over the guy just made the design in the back that matches the graphics on the hood. The carpet in the floor board area is just auto carpet.

No templets were used.

This car can't be used as a daily driver because it gets less than 10 mpg and is not very tame.

My 240Z is much better behaved.

Thanks for the nice compliments.

Hey ZRush (both of you!),

First off, awesome car! think it looks great inside and out! Has a nice sort of themed feel to it and the engine bay is just jaw dropping awesome!

I'm currently in the process of choosing between putting in a new engine and retrimming my interior (probably budgeting about $4000 MAX or so for either job).. Was wondering if you had any images of the back hatch section?

I've been trying to figure out the best way to go with the plastic sections in the back.. What did you do with yours? I was thinking of options such as painting them, triming material over them or even making new custom panels!

Any help would be ace!

Cheers,

Will

Hey Will, thanks for the nice comments. If you look in my gallery, the 2nd page has a shot of the back hatch area. All the plastic panels were covered in leather.

Designing the interior was fun. Good luck with your project. I'm sure it will be awsome.

Thanks again

Vicky

First of all Hi Will,

So your sick of the RB20? What will go in it's place another RB engine?

I too am looking at my interior these days as I'd like something a bit show pony like. I like Z rushes interior but I like to keep more within the classic theme.

I especially like the diamond stich vinyl over the strut towers and transmission tunnel it just looks so classy.

Zrush your interior is great take no offence infact I had taken a few ideas from it. I just am in love with the diamond pattern dunno if it's the 70'z porn effect :).

I like the way you retained the original seats I have been tossing up between going race seats or reupholstering the old ones like you have.

What i really wanna deal with is the centre console and as much as i love original I keep thinking of fabricating something that bit better. I was considering using the old one as a template and making something out of the same material as the dash or even aluminium as the plastic just isn't strong.

Hmmm maybe i'm thinking too far ahead of my wallet LOL.

Either way keep the ideas coming guys. :classic:

yeah i've got a whole host of ideas... i'll be going racing seats with harnesses.. atm i just slide out of the stock Z ones! hehe

there will also be some modifications to the center console around where the headunit sits..

ZRush, Yeah I'd seen that pic, it's very impressive! Was wondering if there were any sort of aiming from the seats looking back? As it's more everything behind the strut towers that I'm unsure of.. And what have you done on top of the towers? It looks so nice and clean!

Gav, hardly sick of the RB20! My one is just getting a bit worn out.. I'm thinking of upgrading to the R32 RB20 as mine is just the GTS-X one..

So I figure instead of just rebuilding this old one and buying a new turbo and all the hassles with that.. I might as well just get a newer engine and reap the benefits of a bigger turbo, slightly more efficient head and less Ks!

plus while the engine is out I hope to tart up the engine bay a bit! Not quite as nice as ZRush's but still pretty tidy!

Sorry there are no pictures from the front looking back. The back has the speaker cabinet form MSA. It too is covered in leather as well as the top of the strut towers. The guy that did the interior is a craftsman for sure. Believe it or not every picture of that car has been taken by someone else. I have no digital camera. Hoping to get one soon. Thanks again Will/aRCH-Z.

Keep us posted as to your project. Always love to look at others ideas on interiors.

  • 4 weeks later...

Hey all,

well this is not what id call a custom interior, but its a start....

i have put a speaker wall up inbetween the shocker covers in the back of the coupe, then i made up another cover for the top....

inbetween the shocker covers we have 2x 6x9's and a 8" subwoofer in the middle and in the top i have put a 12" subwoofer (soon to be replaced by a 15", that is when i have some spare cash, LOL)

this design works well for sound quality but is not the best as it is not fully air tight at the moment, but that is all to be fixed soon also.....

not much but its a start.....

Mellow,

It looks like you have a good setup started, I tried a similar approach, but Body flex going 'round the corners brought too many creaks, squeeks, and voids out in the install. I ended up putting a steel strut-brace across the tops of the towers, and attatching the enclosure to that. That took care of all of the previous problems, and made the car more stable in the "twisties" as well.

I have since changed my approach because I need more hatch area than that one allowed.

here's my stereo install.. not really a custom interior but it does change the feel inside the car a fair bit.

the middle panel lifts up and my two amps are in there, the big black thing is a bass tube subwoofer ;)

Yes.. all the colors dont QUITE match up.. it's a bit less noticable in person (dang camera) but my interior is still awaiting a better retrim.

There's now a strut brace across the towers and the subby is held to it with chunky black camping straps

i've been quite happy with it!

the speaker cabinet is a wooden frame with fibreglassing over it then vinyl

Hey hey,

hls30.com - i have not yet got any creaks or rattles in the interior, but i am still having my few little problems with the sound system, soon i will have it perfected :classic:

I would like to get a strut brace one day but the only ones ive seen are $135 and i have other prioritys to get done first, as im only 17 and have to drive 90km a day for my job there is not much money left over, but it is all hapening slowly....

aRCH-Z - well its certainly a different look you have going there.... the old Z's sound nice with the bass in the back tho hey :cheeky:

quite a smooth looking setup there.....

cheers fellas, have a good one

Mellow,

The creaks were coming from the speaker enclossure moving around against the sheet metal of the car-I made it fit around the strut towers(roughly "H" shaped)-I did not want to drill any holes in the steel to mount it.

I made my strut brace. I wouldn't spend money for something so easy to make. A single piece of rigid tubing , a pair of shaped ends, six holes and two welds-less than one afternoon, and no worries about goofing up the way it looks after paying for it!

I have not worries that at 17 you could find a better way to spend $135-one of the "three Gs"come immediately to mind-Girls, Go fast Goodies, or Gas for a roadtrip!
