Posted February 13, 200421 yr comment_68275 ROFL Now, I have no way of verifying this but, it's the sort of thing a real Aussie Larrikin would do. I LOVE IT. GO Aussie!!! Four youths from Canberra, pulled off a trick of breathtaking bravado in order to gain revenge on a mobile speed camera van operating in the area. Three of the group approached the van and distracted the operator's attention by asking a series of questions about how the equipment worked and how many cars the operator could catch in a day. Meanwhile, the fourth musketeer sneaked to the front of the van and unscrewed its numberplate. After bidding the van operator good-bye, the friends returned home, fixed the ! number plate to their car and drove through the camera's radar at high speed - 17 times. As a result, the automated billing system issued 17 speeding tickets to itself. Go Aussies!! Don't ya just LOVE IT ????????? Rick. February 13, 200421 yr comment_68277 I just love it. I have thought of parking directly infront of one and pretending I didn't know what was going on. I don't think they could do anything except move because there not even police officers there contractors . February 13, 200421 yr comment_68283 used to be that way down here too but now they obviously feel it's too unimportant for a boy in blue to be doing. Did you hear about the scam with the speed cameras they've had here in Vic. Apparently one involved a Datsun 120y being clocked at 150km/h when the owner said the car isn't even capable of going that fast they drove it and i think it did a little over 105km/h top speed . They've had to do alot of testing as they were booking people for speeding when they weren't. There has been alot of anger here in Melb over the fixed cameras as they have been seen as revenue making cameras not road safety cameras especially in there sneaky positions. February 13, 200421 yr comment_68287 I don't know how true that story is but it is a good yarn. Some of the fixed speed/red light camera's in Vic now have security cameras pointing at them to try and stop the amount of vandalism. I have seen some really good photos from different speed cameras, there is one at work of a guy in the process of smashing the flash unit with a hammer, too bad he was looking at the camera when the operator took a photo...Then there is the guy towing a trailer through the tunnel doing 120 in the 80 zone with his finger out the window, good idea but some of the camera's take photo's of the front of your car.But the best one I have ever seen waas a guy who decided to get smart and took his number plates off and sped repetedly sped past a camera, good idea except his car was for sale and he had his phone number in the window. But it is not only the motorists who do stupid things....Several years ago a Police camera operator in Victoria was playing with his revolver on speed camera duty, yes, he shot the camera. Not all traffic coppers are stupid but most stupid coppers work traffic. February 13, 200421 yr comment_68289 I remember seeing on a TV a couple of guys that removed their number plates and while the driver sped past the fixed camera, the passenger hung his bare arse out the window. I'd rather have double the police on the road than these revenue raisers. I hardly ever see them in blackspot areas, only the bits where everyone likes to speed. They're there for our safety Luke Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10173-go-aussie-go/#findComment-68289 Share on other sites
February 16, 200421 yr comment_68604 Over Here in Western Australia the its the cops that doing pranks with speed cameras. 2 Police officers covered their heads with white sheets with eye holes cut out. Taped F@#% YOU over the number plate and spead through a 60kph zone doing over 100Kph......... in a police car (unmarked).and they cant get fined for it because the police didn't investigate if and find out who they were untill after the 1 year period that traffic offences can be charged for. May 16, 200420 yr Author comment_81250 Here in the sunny state of Queensland, it is illegal to talk on a mobile phone whilst driving. Recently a bloke was booked for talking on his mobile while he was riding his push bike. Rick. That one got a lot of media coverage & was very embarrasing for the Vic PD There are laws of physics that prevent 120Y's going much faster that 100km/h (even off a cliff)!
