February 15, 200421 yr comment_68555 I have a rear glass in good condition I will sell for 25% of Chloe/VB. + shipping. It is not a 72, it is a vertical wire.steve Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10197-rear-glass-needed/#findComment-68555 Share on other sites
February 15, 200421 yr comment_68569 I'll throw this out to the club while we are on the subject of hatch glass. The '70 - '71 models had vertical demister lines. From '72 on (I think - correct me please) the demister lines were horizontal and in all the hatch glass as a standard feature. My glass is clear and I understand pretty rare. I am looking for a clear piece for a very deserving car and I have a brand new vertical line Nissan piece to offer up. February 15, 200421 yr Author comment_68572 The car was missing the rear glass when I purchased it so I don't know if it had horizontal or vertical defrosters? The body shop that was painting the car broke the glass and provided a replacement but it didn't even come close to fitting, wrong size and shape. Zvoiture: What is 25% of Chloe/VB? Will it fit my 72? 26th-z: How much for your vertical line? February 15, 200421 yr comment_68575 Look for the location of the wiring that connects to the grid. Unless I'm mistaken, the ones with the vertical lines had the wiring come out from underneath the dome light plastic in between the hinges. I'm not entirely sure where the horizontal ones had the wire coming out, but they were probably close together connecting to a pair of wires on the hatch.2¢Enrique Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10197-rear-glass-needed/#findComment-68575 Share on other sites
February 16, 200421 yr comment_68598 The horizontal wiring is the same. Wire on left and right of dome light. I can't imagine the glass not fitting. The best price you can find from MidwestZ (Chloe) or Victoria British, I will sell for 25% of that + shipping. Make sense? No gaurantee on the defrost being intact.steve Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10197-rear-glass-needed/#findComment-68598 Share on other sites

February 16, 200421 yr comment_68601 I'm holding on to the defroster glass as a trade token. It's brand new NOS Nissan. A '72 piece of glass should be fairly common, bimini_blue. February 16, 200421 yr Author comment_68605 After a little Dogpile searching, I found this link that indicates the defroster change was in 72 as 26th-z stated.http://www.cybersanford.net/DATSUNZCARS.htmlI think I would rather have a horizontal defroster glass if I can find one. If not, I'll let you know.Thanks. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10197-rear-glass-needed/#findComment-68605 Share on other sites
February 16, 200421 yr comment_68620 26th-Z, I know you said you were holding the vertical line glass for a trade, but do you have a price in mind? Of course shipping from your corner of the U.S. in Florida to the opposite corner up here in Washington State would probably give me a heart attack.bimini_blue I have a horizontal line rear glass in my '72 parts car, however the lines look a little faded. I hear there are repair kits (JC Whitney, etc.) for these, but don't know how well they work. I'd sell it cheap, as long as you pay for the shipping. As you're in Idaho it wouldn't be too bad. I'm making a trip to Spokane at the end of the month to watch the last Zag home game and could bring it with me if you're interested. It's still in the rear hatch of my parts car, but has been unbolted. You could have the whole hatch for that matter if you'd like, it has a few rusty spots, but nothing too severe. I have some other '72 parts, what do you need? Got anything to trade? Where are you in Idaho?Gary D. February 16, 200421 yr comment_68646 Gary,Nissan doesn't list 90301-E4101 any more. E8800 replaces it which I believe is the horizontal lined glass. The Nissan price I have is $247 for the E8800 making E4101 that much more valuable. I have seen used pieces go for much less on eBay, but keep in mind the piece I have is brand new. February 16, 200421 yr comment_68699 Thanks 26th, I know of at least one wrecking yard that had a verticle lined hatch glass that I can pick up for less than $50 I think. Of course it is not new and may have problems of its own. The thought of having one for a back up, especially a new one, just got the better of me for a minute there. Hopefully the wrecker hasn't done something silly like crush the car. :tapemouth Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10197-rear-glass-needed/#findComment-68699 Share on other sites
