Posted February 21, 200421 yr comment_69342 Hiya Today i saw a 200ZR. I dodn't know there was a 8th Z?(240,260,280,20zx,300,350,140(120y)) It looked like a 1st gen 300zx. It had "200ZR" writen in the middle of the back in the red bit, like a 180sx(you know what i mean) and a farlady z badge. Does anyone know anything about this? I didnt see the front of it though...:sleepy: Cheer'z' Chris Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10305-200zr-what-is-it/ Share on other sites
February 21, 200421 yr comment_69343 Ya, a 200ZR is a special edition of the 300ZX - difference being tuned suspension and an RB20DET.Pretty fast from what I have heard!!! February 21, 200421 yr comment_69346 What're you talking about? Special edition? no.. it's just a JDM version as far as I'm aware. Export got the 300ZX. VG30E and VG30ET. JDM also got 200Z, 200ZS, 200ZG: VG20ET Standard on all models. 200ZR: RB20DET, Intercooled but the Intercooler is directly ontop of the engine, like a GTi-R so .. Interheater may be more appropriate. 300ZR: VG30DE. Almost the same HP numbers as the VG30ET and it doesn't even have a turbo. When it comes down to it, they're all just Z31's Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10305-200zr-what-is-it/#findComment-69346 Share on other sites

February 22, 200421 yr comment_69426 sadly not THAT fast from what I've read..my source may be wrong but the NICS RB20DET which is found in the 200ZR is pretty poor.. bad head design, small t25 ceramic turbo and apparently the ecu lets it down even further (aftermarket mangement could fix that pretty quickly).. Also the Z31 isn't that light and off boost the RB20 isn't that great..mind you, the engine mounts are QUITE useful from what I hearhttp://www.fsinet.or.jp/~ranfa/myfairlady-e.htma very cool 200ZR... notice the duct on the bonnet to cool the intercooler? February 22, 200421 yr comment_69487 It was my understanding, (please correct me) that because of rather stiff displacement based taxes, Nissan offered their home market customers 2 liter Z's. Such as the L20a for the S30 models, a VG20E and RB20DE for the Z31's and even a VG20DE in the Z32's. These were offer in the lower trim-level Fairladies.Once again, my info is sketchy, based on internet searches and second hand conversations. February 23, 200421 yr comment_69545 They arn't fast but they arn't slow either... but they have plenty of power to be sliding around with a quick change to second... beleive i did it on a test drive as i was going to buy one but didn't have the money in the end... ... theres alot in japan with rb25det's, or gtr engines, the 200zr's, came with recaro interoir (gear stick, steerring wheel and seats) and less weight trim, still had electric windows and a few other bits and peices, but the main part was they came with beefier suspension, and a short R200 with 4.11 or 4.34 gearings all with 45ft torque LSD's Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10305-200zr-what-is-it/#findComment-69545 Share on other sites
