The Pioneer radio that came in my 260Z is basically held in place by the console. I'm sure there's supposed to be a bracket in there, as I saw mention of someone looking for one for THEIR 260Z.

I'm hoping to talk hubby into going salvage yard hopping today. Any idea of what years of Zs would have a bracket that fits a 1/74 production date 260?

i do beleive that 74-78 will fit in to the 260,

If I remember right, the 260-280 console had what amounted to a cradle that bolted to the front end of the console that held the radio...

I've still got a console from my 75 in the shop, I'll look and see if the mount is still on the console tomorrow and post a pic if it's there.

Seems I put my foot in my mouth again, as the console isn't in the shop... I guess when I sold the 280 I just started throwing all the 280 stuff in the back of his truck to get it out of my way and the console must have been in the pile....:stupid:

Guess one thing I should do this spring is an inventory of what I have out there.....

Hey, I dont have a braket on my 240 panel and I have a brand new sony radio int there it it fits great. Maybe im missing some suport? wouldn't be the first thing missing on the carLOL. good luck people.

We went salvage yard hopping this weekend, and there is indeed a metal bracket that bolts to the sides of the console itself to support the radio. By the looks of it, the 280Z bracket will fit the 260; unless the bolt holes are just SLIGHTLY different, the bracket should fit fine without any modifications. Of course, the RADIO may not fit the bracket though.
