I have serious doubts that the car is an authentic ZG. I was scolded by Alan once about being fooled by fiberglass ZG kits commonly fitted. He has an authentic ZG. He would know. The fender flares are not authentic. The interior is not authentic. The shifter is not authentic. The paint color is not authentic. And the engine bay is so chromed, I would say this is a customized Fairlady at best. The stated VIN number is not the correct code for an authentic ZG. That's a ricer!

If you look closely you'll see he hasn't actually called it a 240ZG, just a "240z G Nose Fairlady".

But best clarify that its not a real ZG though, indeed. Especially if you're looking to buy it for how much its been appraised for........ even with those awkward flares

should say, appraised at $4600. I think he just got the decimal point in the wrong place. If that car ever appraised for $46K i would like to see the proof that it was ever insured for anywhere near that amount. The fitment of the gnose on that car sucks. Its typical throw on fiberglass crap.

I have seen this car in person. It is not a 240zg, it is a fairlady z(s30) either Z or Z-L. The g-nose itself is actually a very nice one. I am not sure if it was a factory g-nose, but it was a 5-piece with the very hard to find headlight covers with chrome trim. This car is not my cup of tea and for that price one could find a very nice original 240ZG in Japan.

The letter from the appraiser is posted with the pics. It does say $47,000. No mistake. There's no way in h3!! that car is worth that amount. Don't get me wrong, I like the car, but that is WAaaayyy more than they're gonna get for it.

Somebody needs to appraise the "Appraiser".

"Japanese competition model". "Restored to Factory condition". Yikes.............. that's frightening stuff coming from a professional classic car appraiser.

I think he would have called it a 'real' ZG if he actually knew that was the correct terminology. It seems clear that he thinks its the 'real thing'. He also sees lots of rare Factory option parts - where I see none. In fact its a plain old Z-L in drag........

And he really HAS signed it off at $47,500.00............. A nice ( genuine! ) ZG in decent condition could be bought in Japan for well under $25,000 US. Hell, you could buy my one for not much more than that!

I agree with v12horse, the replica G-Nose seems to be fairly good quality and well fitted, with genuine headlamp covers ( but GOLD plated????!! ). If it was just described as a custom Z-L and with a fairly sensible price then things would not be so bad. Mistaking it for a genuine ZG is plain incompetent. I hope nobody buys it in the belief that its a real one.

All in all, very scary stuff.

Show me an insurance policy where someone took paper against that car as colateral for $46k. Show what the car was insured for.

And the only POSSIBLE way that car could have been insured for anywhere near that is if they did "agreed to value" insurance, where an appraisal is not even necessary.

My bet is that IF that car was ever insured for $46k the owner would have probaly already collected on that policy.... "gee, i donnnow, i came outside and it was just gone!!!"

Unless it was a big computer malfunction, it is not likely this guy got the decimal point in the wrong spot. Even considering that possibility, he would have seen the value written in big-bold letters and numbers across the report.

The value is spelled out as well as shown in a dollar figure.

Oh well.. Just look at the location.. CALIFORNIA! Nothing but a bunch of crooked people in that damn state.

Derrek, we are all a bunch of Z fanatics from the US, Europe, Asia, Australia, and all other parts of the world. We KNOW the Classic Zcar. Point of all these replies? You should consider getting another appraisal.
