Posted February 21, 200421 yr comment_69386 Can anyone give me a rundown on the procedure of droping a 350 into a 280? Just a brief note is great. I have bought a 280 with possible injector/motor problems and I have really nice 350 in my beat up truck .. so anyway ..you get the picture. Thanks ..Bruce Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10317-350-chev-into-76-280/ Share on other sites
February 21, 200421 yr comment_69392 You would most likely get more response from the hibredz site Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10317-350-chev-into-76-280/#findComment-69392 Share on other sites
February 22, 200421 yr comment_69402 Its not that hard, just need some mounts and what not, I dont prefer the V8 in a Z as much like I used to though there are some respectable set ups.Do a search on google for jags that run, gives you the low down on all you need to know if you buy the book.Another good place to go is to HybridZ.org, though I think theyre site will be down till Monday sometime for maintenance. February 22, 200421 yr comment_69433 I put a 350 in my 240 and it was actually a very easy conversion. I bought the mounts from Johns Cars in Dallas Texas and everything fit like perfect. The biggest headache is getting an adequate exhaust system under the car and out the back. The Chevy setup actually makes more sense (to me) than the original inline six because the fule feed for the Chevy is on the delivery side of the Datsun body and does not have to cross over the motor to get into the induction system ... thereby removing the likelyhood of vapor lock. Everything about the swap makes me wonder if the Datsun folks didn't have designs on using a small block in there to begin with. No holes to cut, no welding, and the only modification was moving the passenger side brake line to the outside of the frame rail (easy enough).
