Hose clamps

Hi,

My Z got nice hose clamps but their screws looked different from the original round head screws.

I went to the DIY shopping store,I found nice screws to meet my taste. But they were not be able to be applyed as they are, need to be trimed at the tip.

I got a nice idea,I bought a drill machine and a sander to trim the tip of the round head screws.

It did work!!I made roughly 30 screws for clamps.

I want to show you.

Kats that looks amazing, even more amazing is the quality of the restoration, very rarely would anyone bother about something such as the jubilee clips, let alone the correct screws for them, I hope one day my car will have a similar level of detail. (deep down I know it wont, but if I aim high I have something to fall back on ROFL )

Keep up the good work

Chris

Hi kats,

I have been collecting hose clamps for some time now. In America, mechanics do not like the wire type of clamp and it is common to have the banded clamp. Later style wire clamps had the hex head and it is almost impossible to find the rounded screw type any more. Your substitution screw is a good idea. I love how you lined up the screw heads - perfectionist! I usually see things like that on Porsches!

I can't tell you how many times I have refered your site to people with questions. It is just great to have such a resource. I sent this picture to Alan last night. You may enjoy this also. Every now and then I see Datsun factory tools for sale and I collect them. For what reason, I don't know. But, I just found an original Special Services Tool Box. Have a look.

And Alan is extremely jealous. Whatever happened to all the Nissan service tools here in the UK? I never see any anywhere....

Kats, I need loads of wire hose clamps for my 432R replica project. Do you want to make some for me? Forget flying those airliners, you have a future as a Z restoration parts specialist.:classic:

While on the subject of hose clamps....

What do you guys think of those faux braided hose covers with the red hexagonal hose clamp covers? I have a set for a V-8, and it should do for the L28. Along with some(LOTS) of polishing, it might make that tired ol' thumper look nice, to go with my

MUSTANG POWER STEERING!!

Any thoughts?

thx.

Hi Kats,

Nice job on the hose clamps. I appreciate your attention to details. Nice!

Where were you able to get those braided radiator hoses? From your profile, I assume your in Japan. Maybe it's easier there but, I'm having one heck of a time trying to find them in the U.S.

Any suggestions?

Best Regards,

Kats,

You are correct Sir! My 1970 SRL roadster also has the round head screws on the hose clamps. Your manufactured screws look correct, with the right shape head (pan head?). Now, to be ABSOLUTLY perfect, you need to get them replated zinc dichromate, along with the clamp bands. I've been gathering these clamps up for some time, in preparation for replating, as I want complete sets for my Z, SRL and 521 pickup <latest project.

Thank you for sharing you efforts.

Hello all,

I am so glad I got so many praise for my work.

Alan T, playing Z is so much fun than flight...I can make screws for you for free but you have to stay at my home and teach english for my wife and kids. They are learning english once a week, they really want to talk to native speeker outside school and want to see how they can do as they learn.

landmizzle,I have got so many parts from U.S. through ebay.

These cloth braided hoses are also from ebay.I check ebay everyday, there are so many good parts which I can not find in japan.

This is my daughter.
