I simply gave up finding braided radiator hoses. Please forgive me, guys. I am going to electroplate all my clamps to look brand new, though.

I haven't even seen braided radiator hoses on e-bay or anywhere else. I have braided heater hoses and several other braided hoses now, but not the big ones. I have time to keep watching though...

To plate clamps, I'd have to have some first. I keep my eye out for wire clamps, and I have some, but I haven't made a list of what I need, so I don't really know how close I am to having a "set".

I too have given up looking for braided hoses. I have some used ones and some NOS ones but nowhere near the full set. As I am proposing to keep my z's long term I personally don't see the point, as what happens if you are lucky enough to have a full braided set and one needs to replaced in about 10 years time by which time braided hoses will probably be even rarer than they are now. I think I will go for the 'all rubber look' and sell the braided ones to partly offset the cost of other parts I am buying.

This is just my opinion and my car is nothing special in the history of the z car, and I can fully understand the position of those of you with early vin number or other special interest cars who might be of the opinion that the braided look is the only way to go.

I am surprised that the hose clamps are seemingly such a problem. Like 240 in OZ I have found that later model Nissans used the same clamps as the z series. One of my cars is a 1990 Nissan Micra, and I have swiped all the hose clamps from this car for use on my z's. Hopefully the same situation ocurred with later model Nissans in the US for you guys to take advantage of.

Hey Andrew

As Kats mentioned above, the main problem is finding the correct hose clamps for the fuel lines as they are different construction/look than the standard clamps.

I have been hunting around yards for some time now and believe that the special fuel line clamps were confined to cars built around the 240z period.

I have one only on my 69 1000 which I will use on the 240z. I have seen 120y's etc built around mid 70's with the standard clamps installed on the fuel lines and they are of different construction.

FWIW, out of interest I priced the fuel line clamps from my local Nissan a few months back. They wanted AUS$17 a piece for them (ex. GST)!

Thinking about it I remember cutting the fuel clamps off my car with a hacksaw. Damn, blast, %$££$

Hey Kats

Something you may be interested in. I have recently come across cloth braided fuel line hose here in Australia. Although a little darker than the other braided engine bay hoses, it looks pretty good.
