February 27, 200421 yr comment_70207 Hey, the original SU's come with a heat sheild, mabe you could fabricate a heat shield between your carbs and header befor you invest in a new header, or just switch back to the bitchn SU's . February 27, 200421 yr comment_70219 I would steer away from the ZX injector coolers. It's always been questionable to me if they really accomplish anything plus that's one more electrical accessory your system has to deal with. The 280Zs didn't have them. The 810s and Maximas didn't have them. I just wonder why the ZXs did. Just one more gadget on a car overrun with gadgets. (I don't mean yours, I'm talking about the ZX). I would try a heat shield and/or some of that insulating header wrap. February 28, 200421 yr comment_70355 The '72 I am going to rest-mod has tripple webbers on it, it was running the other day. The car was run with that setup for many years, and to my knowledge there was no problem with gas boiling out of the bowls. I will look at its' headers next time I go for a visit! June 3, 200717 yr comment_211212 Fujitsubo has the copy of the Datsun comp. header. I have an original set. The center carb runs very close to the tubes if your using a short Mikuni manifold. If you have the Mikuni's or Dellorto's they have a bottom accelerator pump, so a heat shield is out of the question because you have to bend it around the tubes. If you have the Cannon manifold, you might be able to get away with it. I'm doing a ceramic coat and wrapping the two center tube for the first 12". I have the MSA header too. That one has plenty of bend in it to fab a nice heat shield. The Cannon manifold is about an inch longer. If you running Webers, they have a bottom mount heat shield you can buy for each carb.
