Posted February 29, 200421 yr comment_70482 O.K. the Z (1977) finally arrived last night. This morning I took off the fenders to clean out behind them and the cowl. Very happy with how the drainage worked and only slight surface rust. I think the rockers are shot , in the front where they curve up they are rusted through and along the bottom there is rust. I can' t tell where the front seam is between the rocker and the door rail (A pillar?) is at the front? Does anyone think it is best to replace or cut and patch, and if so where is that seam?? Now the doors, bubbling at the bottom corners with rust on the inside bottom. I'm thinking cut and patch instead of skins ( the doors come off tomorrow). There are some other minor spots but for now one thing at a time for me. I appreciate any and all opinions Thanks Jim M. February 29, 200421 yr comment_70489 Jim, if you can't inspect all of the rockers, replace them-nothing is worse than having a bubble come up under new paint! Don't worry about the seam, cut the old metal to fit the new-but don't cut anything until you have the new patches or panels! measure at least twice so you only have to cut once! Call or PM Chloe at MWZ(her member name) for patch panels for the lower portion of the doors! Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10458-rocker-panels/#findComment-70489 Share on other sites
