FS: 79' 280Z in Seattle area

I've got a 1979 280Zx (no turbo package) sitting in my garage gathering dust, and it needs a better home. It's got the gold metal flake paint (I think they call it "champagne") with a tan interior and dark brown dash.

The GOOD: It runs great, still has a lot of acceleration on the straight six, though it has a little over 300,000 miles. No cracks in the dash. Clean interior, upholstry still in good shape. New brakes less than a year old, with new shocks at the same time. Clutch less than two years old. Tires still in good shape, all wire rims present and accounted for. It's never ben smoked in and never been in an accident.

The BAD: It has some minor cosmetic damage on both rear quarter panels, both from my room mate backing up too close to a truck and scraping. These are small dents that you can't even see in the pictures I've got, but they're there and should be mentioned. There's what I consider to be a small amount of rust around the rear tail lights. Nothing a little TLC and a new coat of paint wouldn't fix, but there's a lot of small spots. (It sucks to have any rust, I know, but it's lived in Seattle for 25 years, so in that light, it's in really good shape.)

The UGLY: As I mentioned above, most of the major projects on the car have been taken care of. The engine runs well, and it's still a fun car to drive. The brakes and shocks are new, and the clutch is only a couple of years old. So, the last thing on the list to ask about is, of course, the tranny. The tranny works, but it's on it's last legs. It was new in 1986 and probably has 150,000 miles on it. I've been driving it for the last couple of days, so it's totally drivable, but sometimes it needs a little babying and convincing to go into third gear, and it's just starting to behave like the tranny is trying to take a bow. In other words, you can drive it home, but I wouldn't wait too long to replace it.

So, looking around this site, I get the impression the thing is probably worth roughly $2000, give or take. Considering the tranny, the rust, and me desperately wanting my garage back, I'm going to go ahead and say $1400 or best offer (and I do mean best offer, let's negotiate if you have any interest).
