Title is misleading. I already know where to put the sender for the oil temperature gauge (in the port for it in the oil pan). What I need to know is where to put the sender for the oil temperature warning light. Longacre says only, "Install where oil flows into engine." Is there anywhere to put it in an F54?

Depends.....

If you are using a remote oil filter or oil cooler, why not in the sandwich plate where the lines run off the block. You can find many different styles of sandwich plates with ports for temp sensors, or you could use an oil filter head with the port in it if you use a remote filter.

I'd run it off the adapter plate on the block, before the oil gets to back to the pan.

No remote filter, just a 7" filter in the standard location.

I can't think of any other way to do it without using an adapter plate to mount the oil filter on, and just use one of the ports for the oil lines to mount the sending unit into.

Are you planning on an oil cooler?

what year Z has a oil temp sensor? I have an oil pressure gauge but no temp sensor. I that a ZX thing? Just interested.

Thanks Keith... I wonder if there is an adapter plate the filter screws into. Just basically a spacer with a couple ports in it. I am not putting in an oil cooler right now. Just the big pan and Giant filter for now. Maybe I will just put the warning light sender in the other port in the pan--the one for the turbo drain. Not ideal, but..... Interesting: I bought a infared digital pyrometer because I was having some tire issues last month. Last weekend at WS I was pointing that thing at EVERYTHING. It was so fun! Braked disks, drums, radiator tank, and oil pan. If I recall correctly, highest temp I saw at the pan was 237. What a fun toy.

There are sandwich plates available to mount the oil filter in the stock location, and run lines for an oil coller.

There are also remote filter heads with gauge ports as well.

Pegasus Auto Racing Supplies has them on page 62 of their new catalog. Just don't ask me what the filter thread size is, cuz I don't remember back that far.....:cross-eye

Steve, the plate assembly you desire is a readily available item from people like Summit Racing. It's intended use is for adding a remote oil cooler but you can make it work for your sender.

P.S. By any chance are you going to the San Bernardino Z event next saturday?

Probably have to go to a smaller filter, as the one I use is about an inch from the inner fender. No biggie. Who needs a big filter when you have a big pan. I'll just go back to the 1515.
