February 24, 201411 yr comment_442135 I still have the stock L24 motor, so can't help with an RB swap, but you may be able to use the RB PS pump. I used a Hyundai Lantra PS pump, bolted via an adaptor plate to where the fuel pump used to be on the L24. Fitted an electric fuel pump at the rear near the tank. I fitted a small resevoir for PS oil under the right side inspection lid behind the windscreen washer bottle. My car is right hand drive, so this could be different for yours.I had to modify the crossmember slightly to take the Suburu rack. Nothing too drastic if you are handy with a MIGA worthwhile mod. in my opinion. February 24, 201411 yr comment_442190 Thanks for the info! I may just have to wait till I get the motor mounted to see if I will have room and if I can even flip the right hand drive rack off the R34 front clip I have, to the left side without direction issues. Not familiar with the way the power steering works yet. But in a worst case I'll just have to break down and just purchase a rack off a left hand drive Subaru. (Was just trying to use as many of the parts that I already have) And PS will deff be a plus trying to park the car with the 18x10's all the way around I'm looking to purchase. February 24, 201411 yr comment_442197 Did any of the domestic sedans in Japan have PS in 69-78? I think some of the s30's front suspension is from a previous sedan. February 25, 201411 yr comment_442223 So far this PDF has the best overview I have come across using a Subaru Forrester rack, Celica inner tie rods and the Subaru outter tie rods, and almost match perfectly to the original dimensions of the rack on the 240z. The author also commented that he gets good road feel and it is fairly quick responding. Also, relatively inexpensive for about $200 if you already have a PS pump with the motor you are putting in the car. http://www.vikingds.com/zcarguy/Power%20Steering%20install.pdf Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10539-240z-power-steering/?&page=3#findComment-442223 Share on other sites
February 25, 201411 yr comment_442228 If it's anything like my 96 Impreza, the steering feel is very good on their racks. Not overpowering -just an assist. I have considered that rack change myself. I have an extra front crossmember standing by just for that reason!
