L28 turbo block in a 240Z

Hi guys, I am thinking of putting an 83 turbo engine in my 72Z, but don't want to turbo it or fiddle with electrics. Can I simply replace the top end with a E31 head I have and use a pair of su's with this L28 turbo bottom end? Any significant advantage to the L28 Turbo block and bottom end(stock) vs the L28 non-turbo? I had a non-turbo stock block L28 with the E31 head setup in it before and the torque was great.

You would be better off to use the non-turbo F-54 with the flat top pistons with the E-31 head.

The Turbo block is the same, the only major differences are the pistons and rings. You will be playing "catch-up" by using the turbo block with the dished pistons, since even with an E-31 your compression is going to be significantly lower than if you used a non turbo F54.

Alternative thought, bolt the turbo head on your 240 block. Much better flow, NO valve noise, no periodic valve adjustment. Your manifolds will bolt right up, and you have more tunability! More flow, more go! I would also put the turbo oil pump in the mix.

Assuming its a P90A head and Not a P90.

When those hydraulic lifters go, they are damn expensive to replace.

As was already stated there is no advantave with the turbo block. The blocks are the same . Its the pistons. The F-54 block is the latest evelution of the inline 6 for Nissan and supposidly the strongest. :classic:
