While this is a setback for you, be glad it's not as bad as it could have been. At least your collision coverage will get you some $blingbling for your next car. Salvage what you can and make your next Z even better!! Good luck man!

no...the guy in the jetta took of like a mother f**ker. no one got his plates or anything...so im gettin the fault for the accident and a HUGE insurance rate surge. unfortunately...there isnt much to salvage from the car except the seats (which we already removed) so now i just lay in wait of another Z and hope that i get enough cash from the insurance company to get one thats in good shape.

Grantman, Just remember, you don't have to take the first offer that the Insurance Co. gives you. It is their job to pay you the least amount possible. If they low ball you, you can negotiate. When my Z burned up, they offered me $1,900, which was the blue book value back then. After 7 yrs of restoration, I had about $10K into the car, and I had pictures and loads of receipts to prove it. Show them ads in Hemmnings for comparable cars. In my case, I ended up with $6,900, which I figured would have been the most I could have gotten by trying to sell the car. Just be firm, but nice. If they think you are just a jerk trying to get rich from the accident, they won't want to help you.

yeah...my insurance company is leaning towards 4000 right now. I only paid 2400 for the car (an amazing deal for its condition), and ive put about 2000 more into it for rims, a L28, and a new clutch with flywheel. So i think im getting a good price...all i gotta do if find a car for about 3000 and work on it a little

$4,000 doesn't sound bad. When I totaled my '71 back in 1992, I got $2,800, but it was a pretty rough car, not in good shape like yours was before the accident.

well, we finally received the police report a few weeks back and they put the blame for the accident on my friend...but theyre still recommending that the court try to get us with display of speed (because were teenagers and we all know how much cops hate us) which puts my license on the line. We dont have a court date yet.

If you dont already know, i just picked up my new Z a few weeks ago. You can see everything on my post about it "got my new Z". Even if i wont be able to drive it soon (thatll only last till im 18) it still has room for me to work on it.
