Floor panel replacement?

You can replace both floors and both frame rails without having to remove the engine / tranny.

This of course, is dependent on just how much damage you have.

If the tranny tunnel is rusted more than an inch or so above the floor panel, then you may have to remove the tranny.

If you pre-fit the panels and frame rails to the car after cutting out the bad metal, then all you are shopping for is a good welder.

Find the welder first though and ask him what he wants done, and what he would do as part of the job.

Hard to tell without pictures. But if it IS rusted, with holes going through the metal, that would be one way to get rid of the bumps and the rust.

If on the other hand, you're considering replacement just because of the bumps, take it to a body shop. You'd be surprised at what a qualified metal man can do.

If the Frame Rails are crushed, replacing them is the only option as far as I know.

All this supposes that they didn't damage the rocker panels. If they did, you should check with a frame alignment shop. They'll check the car to make sure that it is straight before you invest a lot of time and money repairing the floor.

Be aware that the floors and trans tunnel act as part of the frame . Much less the rockers. I just replaced the floor on the passanger side of my 240 and repaired the drivers side. I cut away the old floor and preped the perimeter of the floor area so that it was clean and ready for welding and i fitted in the new floor pan . A pan form Zed Findings. I installed the pan with self tapping sheet metal screws at about 4" spacing . The certified welder I hired Tig welded the perimiter and pulled the screws and filled the holes as he went, This cost me just over $600. all total. He did the job in his spare time at home over a couple of weekends. A good deal for the both of us . Frame rails are another matter , I recommend contacting Charlie Osborne at Zed Findings , he has the vary best products , better than origional. After all the welding was finished I sand blasted the whole area that was worked on and treated all bear metal with POR following the recommended three step process, this is a must if you are using POR paint. Otherwise the paint will peal right off if not preped correctly . If all you are woried about is dents and not rust , if you are not building a concors show car , pound out the dents . The replaceing of all the sheetmetal is a costly under taking. I had estimets of $1300.00 for my job, so shop around.

I think i need to replace the passenger side of my trans tunnel and both floors. I was wondering if i could cut this out of my parts car (as it has pretty good floors and a good tunnel) to replace my bad floors and tunnel? or should i get new floors? and do the have replace tunnels?
