I heard a humorous story like that last night at school.

I think the cure for tit is to change your oil every 3-4 months and rotate the tires at the same time. keeps them loose. Maybe a touch of antisieze too.

And on mags with shank nuts, definitely on the shank also.

When you have your rears off, put some around the hub where the drum slides on.

Required torque for lug nuts is RFT.

Apply a little heat to the nut with a torch. Careful not to overheat cause stuff will lose it's temper. The object is to get the temperature differential between the nut and stud as great as possible as quickly as possible so that the nut expands more quickly than the threads of the stud, thereby breaking the corrosion bond. Nice theory anyway, and has worked for me on many rusted nuts and bolts. Victor.
