Hey im looking for a really cheap 2seater 240 or 260 (doesnt matter since the roof is the same?) I need a solid roof with no rust... small dents are forgivable other than that I dont mind if the body is in pieces or falling apart. Even better is if anyone has the roof or roof skin on its own im in Melbourne, Australia.

my_mad_z I went to Zworx the other day and talked with Rob, he said they don't have any roofs at the moment and that they are hard to come by nowadays. Out of curiosity how much did you pay for the roof?

I bought a 69 240z off Waz a few years ago for $400! It had an aftermarket sunroof installed, so I ended up buying another 240z off Waz for another $400. So in answer to your question, I'm not sure how much the roof was. I was willing to pay whatever to get the roof cause having a 69er Z is a rare thing here...... What's wrong with the roof on your Z? Is it rusted, have a sunroof, or is it in bad shape? It's a pr*ck of a job to replace the roof skin! I'll keep an eye out for you...... Waz is coming to my place tomorrow, I'll ask him if he has anything and get back to you.

Rob at Zworx quoted me $350 for a 2 seater roof about 12 months ago.

Speaking of roofs.

I bought a 240z roof (its in my gallery).

My car has a sunroof and it wanted it gone, so i bought the roof.

I'm after some advice as to how to remove the old roof and weld the new one on.

I spoke to a panel shop and thay want to cut my car into bits and splice on the would turret. Which i think is a stupid way to do it, as there are up to 3 layers of metal in the roof, and ther is no way of welding all three layers. And there is nothing wrong ith the turret structure. Seems like this would weaken the chassis.

I want to drill the spot welds, pop off the roof panel and drop the new one on and mig stitch weld, or spot weld it back on.

Any thoughts? How did you do your roof Marc?

Maybe it might be easier to get a modern electic sunroof put in, in which case i'd sell the 240 roof.

I am putting a roof on my z in the next few months. I think the best way to fit it is to drill out the spot welds on the roof skin and leave the frame in tacked. Then remove the skin and fit the new one. (sound simple hey!) Ive seen wazza do one and its a lot of stuffing around but its worth it if you want a nice roof.

I actully have a roof forsale but I am waiting on a guy to confirm if he wants it or not. I will give him a ring and get back to you and let you know it he still wants it.
