How much play does your distributor rotor have? I know there is some centrifugal advance that will move if you really twist it, but I'm talking about just turning the rotor with minimal pressure.

I am asking becausemy rotor has about ~5-10 degrees of play. I am just wondering if this is making it difficult to get the engine timing just right.

thanks

Matt

malder,

Without being an authority on the subject, I would say that there is going to be some play, as you have described, form the clearance between the crankshaft gear, drive spindle and the distributor itself. Also, went you have the timing light on the marks, does the reading vary alot or does it look pretty steady? If it is steady, I would think things are OK and the play you have described is pretty normal. Just one man's opinoin!!!
